I'm getting married in Olu Deniz in Turkey ? Can't wait! I'm still trying on dresses, i want a big dress and i'm finding that the prom dresses in the big style are a lot lighter weight so more practical for the heat and about a £1000 cheaper! lol! x What kind of dresses have you got/had? x

I ordered my dress yesterday. Its a Mark Lesley dress, style 5014 from their paradise collection. It is very light and cool. It has a lace overlay with satin underneath with some nice detail o the bust area. I want to be as cool as possible on the day, even though our wedding is not until 6pm it will still be warm! I will try and post a picture of my dress.

Ali Babs? Where did you have your wedding and reception?

I'm looking at the Antoniou or the Santo winery followed by a meal at the Pyrgos restaurant. I don't want to rush into booking anything yet though as I feel I need to do more looking around.

    Hi

We got married at Santo winery, it was amazing, the view was stunning. The reason we chose to get married in Santorini was the view from the winery, our Travel Agent showed us some photos from a wedding she'd attended there the year before and we booked it there and then. Let me know if you want me to e-mail you some photos, or I could try post some here.

We had our reception in a local restaurant in Kamari, we booked the wedding through Thomas Cook and were lead to believe our hotel would provide our reception for us, but it didn't work out like that (long story)! We'd eaten at a local restaurant a few times, the owner was really friendly, couldn't do enough for you and the food was delcious, so we asked him if we could have our reception there, he really did pull out all the stops for us, it was perfect!

Hope that helps. Let me know if you need any more information.

Ooh, could you email me some pictures please? My email address is

How long were you at the winery for? I'm just concerned that it may be a conveyor belt type situation!

    Thank you ?

We were probably at the winery itself for a total of about an hour and a half. The guests had access to the wedding area for about 20 minutes before I made my entrance. Ceremony took 20-25 minutes, stayed and took photos and drunk champagne / wine for around 30 minutes after the ceremony, then we went into the winery bulding for more photos / wine afterwards.

There are two separate terrace areas where the weddings takes place, you couldn't see / hear the other one from where we were, and we were told only one wedding takes place at a time, weddings are an hour apart and the next wedding takes place on the other terrace, so you don't bump into the other bridal party, if that makes sense?! There is public access to the winery whilst the ceremonies take place, and they can watch your ceremony from the veranda outside the winery building, but to be honest I didn't notice them until we were making our way into the building.

Hope the info / photos help you make a decision!! Let me know if you want any other information.

Edited slightly as our posts crossed over!

That sounds ideal. Did you pay for it as a package? Would you mind giving me a rough idea of cost?

Let me know when I start to bug you!!

You're not bugging me at all, I'm happy to help!

Yeah, we bought a wedding from Thomas Cook (who I don't recommend at all), I've got a terrible memory and it was three years ago this June, but I think it cost us £499 for the ceremony, bridal bouquet and button hole for the groom. We weren't intending to book it when we did, we went to the travel agents to try and get some more ideas, and ended up booking there and then. We were told while we were in Santorini that First Choice provided a better deal - it was cheaper, included bridal bouquet, button hole and a photographer so it's definitely worth shopping around.

When are you looking at getting married? Have you been to Santorini before?

I went into Thomas Cook today and they were really helpful in the shop but I'm glad you've told me this as I'll look round before booking anything. I've heard bad things about First choice as well though. Wonder what Thomson are like?!

We're looking at getting married in September 2010 but want to get the date booked ASAP so that I can book a reception venue back here. I've never been to Santorini, but have been to a few other greek islands and love them. Plus Santorini looks so picturesque.

The lady who booked it all for us at Thomas Cook was brilliant, couldn't fault her at all. We had problems with our rep over there, and there were a few problems with the hotel but we were possibly expecting too much. You should maybe still look into Thomas Cook but find out exactly what you're entitled to and get it in writing.

We'd been to a few Greek islands before we booked the wedding and loved them! Santorini was beautiful. I recommend hiring a car for a few days if you can as you can see the whole island in a couple of days, you could problably squeeze most of it into one day if you want to. Oia is my favourite part, the sunsets from there are supposed to be breath taking, unfortunately we didn't stay there long enough to see one. We're planning on going to Santorini again for a wedding anniversary and will definitely stay in Oia.

The one thing I will also add is I'm glad I wore my hair in an up-do for the wedding, I had wanted it down and curly, but my mum (who's a hairdresser) convinced me to wear it up due to the wind - she was absolutely right as it got quite windy on that terrace!
