I don't think there are any hard and fast rules anymore, so just go with what feels right. For invites, we went with my name first and for any other bits that were personalised we went for the groom's name first. This is only because I printed out a fingerprint tree one day with my name first. My dad popped around and looked at our names (Trish and Chris) with the romantic swirly font and asked why the picture said Fish and Chips!

On invitations it was traditionally bride's name first, because they would be from the bride's parents and say "Mr & Mrs X invite you to the wedding of their daughter Y to..." so it wouldn't make sense the other way round. These days it can be a lot more flexible!

We put my name first because it sounds better that way.

Iv done my name first on the invites but done 'Mr and Mrs W*****' on the stationary.

MIL to be told me the invites were wrong but it was too late by then as some ha been sent out. No ones said anything anyway.

I put mine first on the invitations. No reason really, just that I was the one emailing the wording, so I put myself first Smiley smile

My name is first on all the stuff, only because alphabetically it feels right. Everything says A&M

We're going full on traditional and my Mother is collating responses (largely because we are moving house this summer) so have done the "Bride's Parents invite you to the marriage of their Daughter X with Y"

But I'd always have said Bride's name first - it's the one time in the whole thing that you DO get to go first, since reading of banns (church) and all the responses in the service start with the groom!

Traditional is bride first, but all our stuff said his name first as that's how people know us.

I put OH's on the invitations first purely because i was designing them and it was a nice thing to do! Our names sound nice together no matter which way round you say them (!!! aaaaawwwwww !!!!!) ?

I've put my name first on invites. I remember the registrar saying that I go first on the invites and groom goes first with the vows. I did his name first on the save the dates and my family asked why I wasn't first so swapped it. He's not bothered either way. X

On our save the dates it's my OH's name first and then mine. Purely because it sounds better to have Chris and Nat, rather than the other way round. However on our wedding invitations it'll be my name first as I feel this is more traditional, and because my parents are putting more into the wedding than MIL/FIL.

As others have said, traditionally it is bride's name first - that is what I told my OH anyway! My name is first on everything ;-)
