Who's Wearing 2 dresses?

Zoexx, 25 February, 2012 at 17:27 Posted on Planning 0 18

Hello Hitchers

So I have just seen a beautiful vintage dress from Kitty & Dulcie and I would love to wear it in the evening of my wedding but I have always said I think it's unfair as the evening people do not get to see the actual wedding dress. Plus I do love my wedding dress and I can't actually aford to but another.......

Does anyone else have 2 dresses and what are your general thoughts about this?

My OH thinks I should have two dresses - one for the more formal bit and one for partying in. Im not going to though; i love my dress so much and it's costing a fortune so I want my money's worth!!

I did consider it. I originally thought that I'd go for a "high street" wedding dress (Monsoon or such like) and then change into another dress for party time. But, now I've ordered my dress from a bridal boutique and I love it so I can't imagine I'll want to take it off (ever!).

BUT, now you've raised this I am thinking about it again! ?

I think its a nice idea. But I couldn't do it! I'm going to be doing a Monica and wearing my dress around the house for weeks after the wedding!

I couldn't imagine taking it off before bedtime on my wedding day. I wouldn't feel like a bride anymore. I'd probably cry!!

I changed my dress for the evening the first time i got married but afterwards wished that i hadn't. We also left our reception early and left the family and friends partying. No way i'm doing that this time. My dress will stay on until i go to bed and I don't intend that to be until the party is well and truly over lol

I am having the same dilemma ... I ordered my dress from Kitty and Dulcie (the City Slicker) but love the Pearly Queen one too!! I think it would be perfect for the evening.

If I can keep to my budget in other places (or spend less) I might just take the plunge.

One a separate note ... I was worried about buying my dress on line without seeing it elsewhere but now that the dress has arrived its just perfect, the photos don't do it justice!

I want the Pearly Queen too, this is the dress that has caused me to want to have an evening dress! Think I'm gonna stick with wearing one though.

I went to a wedding where the bride had 3 dresses!! It was ridicules the amount of time she kept taking to put these dresses on. even the groom was fed up.

My Mum's actually suggested this, as dancing in my dress might be impractical. I know that when I was a BM a few years ago and had a teeny train, people kept standing on it while we were dancing. Not sure what to do. I can't imagine wanting to take it off, but maybe at 9ish after the BBQ I will?

I had this dilema also. I came up with the solution of wearing my wedding dress through the ceremony, breakfast and the first half of the reception. That way everyone gets to see the dress, and I can wear the cheaper one for the last part of the reception when I've had a couple to drink and fancy a dance Smiley smile

I've got a shorter pretty dress that I may change into near the end of the evening reception to walk home in.

There is no way I am changing out of my wedding dress! I adore it plus my evening guests get to see it too. Up to you though. A friend of mine had a second dress but her wedding dress was cheap and off EBay so it didn't matter. If you are paying normal prices and can't afford a second one ... Don't bother. Is it really worth the extra expensive. Mynothervhaf wouldn't be happy about me forking out for 2 even if I did get my wedding drss for £600 u dear budget!

That one I was looking at was only £90, so it wouldn't matter if I didn't wear it as I could use it as a party dress
