Why aren't there communities like Centre Parcs to live at?

Pittabre, 31 August, 2010 at 14:50 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 10

Having spent a long weekend there and loved it realised that the lodge we stayed ta would more than suffice us permently, so wondering why aren't there little communties like that, where you can live forever? No cars, lots of trees, heaven...

    Ooh, I like it.

But it would have to be self contained and self sufficient to keep the need for cars to a minimum. Bagsy being the accountant for you all.

The creche there could be run by SAHM's and I'm sure there are enough Hitchers to cover most important jobs!

It would basically be exactly the same as CP - you can have a car but you leave it in a car park around the outside. Quite a few of the people that live there could work there as well...

Sorry, didn't explain myself very well. I meant cars as in deliveries - shopping, post deliveries etc, not actually using cars in the complex. And then people could work from home...

Sounds like you have it all planned!

Can't wait to go back to CP. Looking at going March time and booking a honeymoon suite for H's 30th. That way he can ask for 'activities' for presents and I can head off to the spa. Bliss!

Waah! I said the same thing to H when we went! I cried when we left! It's lovely, isn't it?

We MUST go there. I have never been and it sounds lovely. I like your thinking. Especially then I can avoid having cars parked right outside my front door!

In Cornwall there is a little village called Polperro and it has no cars allowed in the village and is situated in a little cove. It is idyllic!

Did you read on my thread on Bt that I cried when I left? And when we arrived?

There is a place near hear that is similar. Not sure about cars though. But it is out in the sticks and is a little community although it is Anthroposophical Society, from Rudolf Steiner. http://www.anthroposophy.org.uk/ so maybe abit too far a solo society. I know there aren't many boundaries within the community ('no' garden fences ect) and they have their own little school. The houses are expensive though as it's very sought after apparently.
