Why can't I get motivated??!

claireac, 9 February, 2009 at 13:37 Posted on Planning 0 6

Someone please kick me up the bum!!

I have done hardly no wp'ing at all lately, and I don't have much enthusiasm for it either. I do want to get married - just keep getting bogged down with it all and getting nowhere.

Work is really busy and very stressful, plus 3 kids aged 19-2.5 and their various problems/ tantrums - makes me wonder if I'm overloaded and steam is going to come out of my ears soon?!!

Any one else feel like this? 13th June is creeping closer and closer..........

C xx

Deep breaths. how much do u have left to do? write a list then try to do 1 thing a week/month depending on whats left. also what jobs can u delegate?

once you know exactly what you have to do you can get an action plan going.

hope you feel better soon xx

I go through phases.....my wedding gets pushed to the bottom of things to do when I'm busy.

Just have a look at what you need to do, and don't worry!

I think everybody goes through phases like this. I had a manic really excited phase when we booked the big things like the venue about 2 years in advance, then a long 'can't be arsed' phase until it hit 6 months to go. Now I'm only 2 months away and things are starting to happen again, like dresses coming into the shop and my motivation is back up again. If you can't be bothered then I say leave it, its no fun when you feel like that!

Esme, I think you've hit the nail on the head - it's just not fun at the moment!!

When we got engaged I wanted to go off and do it just us and the kids, but h2b didn't. So we compromised on a small ceremony and a party in the evening. Then that kind of grew and grew into something we didn't want, so we sat down and decided what we wanted and changed it. Now I feel as if I'm explaining , even making excuses, for what we want!!

There're a couple of other weddings in the family this year, and they're totally what I don't want - full on big weddings, which is great if that's what you want, but we don't! Also my h2b is a self employed roofer, so not the most secure of occupations lol. We don't want to spend all our savings on a wedding we don't want!

Hmmm sorry, I obviously still have some issues there........... ?

    Why arent you motivated???

Well, it's February, grey, wet and we're at the beginning of the largest financial mess the country has ever seen.

As for what to do about it, well, list, lists, lists and set them all to time scales. Make an Excel spreadsheet if you're a gadgetty person, but personally, I like a handwritten list.

Write down alllllll the things that need to be done (It will be a long list) and prioritise them, depending on when they need to be completed. Start at the top and when you've done it, cross that baby at the top OUT!

Thre are two reasons why lists are great. 1.) It's on paper and written down, so the things don't keep swirling around in your brain, causing stress. 2.) There's nothing like crossing off an item on a large list of jobs for some instant karma Smiley smile
