Why Do You Have To Pay To A Wee At Waterloo

freyamo, 9 April, 2009 at 17:01 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 8

Ok title says it all I guess but yes 30p. I know its not a lot and I dont travel to London enough but hey 30p! I expected it to be really clean and tidy but it smelt awful and was disgusting. I only had 25p (cheapskate) but did have some notes so had to go and buy a coffee in order to get some change to do a wee.

Maybe I should get out more!

Just dont understand it ?

30p is an odd amount - you'd think they'd have aa charge you could pay with one coin.

At least you weren't at Harrods - they sting you for £1 there ?

It's standard for stations to charge - they are trying to recoup the cost of cleaning.

It's quite hard to make a big block of toilets smell really clean but they should have been at least regularly wiped over so someone wasn't doing their job.

When I was a student, I worked as a toilet attendant and charged 20 p - easy and remarkably well paid job, I got so much reading done. ?

I would say the public are very much split between outrage at being charged to use a council amenity and pleased to pay to ensure that the toilets are a) open and b) manned to stop vandalism/attacks and c) clean.

Its 30p at victoria too. unless you have a pram and then they let you through the gate for free! never very clean but when a 2 year old needs a wee you're not left with a lot of choice!! they have a change machine next to the turnstiles.

That's a bargain considering it was 1GBP to wee there back in 1995, no increase at all!

One of the senior managers at my old place would, without fail, claim back the 20p for a pee every single time he went to London. Which was a lot.

It's 30p at Euston, too. The toilets always stink. I only go in there if I really need to go.

I agree they are rank, my friend was most miffed she didn't even get any toilet roll for her 30p - she had to go and complain. AND we had to queue for ages too.

King's X annoys me - not the charge so much as the fact that the change machine seems to ALWAYS be out of order! In those cases, I have been known to duck under the barrier for a freebie ?
