Wiltshire Photographers?

Hoddy, 28 February, 2013 at 16:50 Posted on Planning 0 23

Can anyone reccomend me any photographers in the Wiltshire area? Really struggling to find one around that fits in with my budget and does the sort of photography I'm after.

I suppose I am being picky, but I just think the photography is one of the most (if not THE most) important parts of the day.

Many thanks in advance Smiley smile

Yes, hopefully! ? The venue gave us a fantastic mid week deal which is too good to miss, and as it was a lot less than we had budgeted originally for a venue we can afford to push the wedding a year forward which is just amazing! But now I've got a year less to plan everything...

I would say £1000 is a great budget and its surprising you haven't managed to find anyone. What style of photography are you looking for?

Oh yes, a grand should be sufficient. What kind of photography style are you after Have you seen any you like that's out of your budget? If so share them here and we can see if we know anyone with a similar style that is <£1000

I'm not good with photography technical terms but I want something that makes it look natural, I don't like loads of posed wedding photos. I prefer the 'moments you didn't realise were happening' sort of pictures. Obviously I would also like group posed shots and things like that but it's the little details too Smiley smile

I'm also looking for a photographer who offers an engagement/pre-wedding shoot as well as I think they are fab. Am I asking too much?

You're doing great until the engagement shoot.

Some will include this in their package price but will price their packages higher. Some will charge extra, some will do it for free.

An engagement shoot might take up an hour of your time but it'll take a day of the togs up. So often will effect the price.

Image supply only for a grand is decent. Start adding things like pre wedding shoots and you reduce your chances a bit.

As Chris says, this does change the dynamic a little, specifically for any out of area tog. Along with his suggestion of a disk of images, being available to have the engagement shoot done in a mutually convenient location, might well be a way forward.....make a day of the eshoot....

Han19, occasionally when a couple books me I meet them at the venue for a catch up nearer the time. When this happens I sometimes do some photos then.

With engagements shoots there's a huge variance in what people take. I've seen blog posts talking about engagement shoots which involve a field in winter, two somber looking people and no real difference in the photos at all.

Then there are others with several locations and a huge variety like this one which took 2 hours, delivered 40 images and took the best part of a day editing.

Engagement photos can also sometimes bite you on the bum. It's been said by others elsewhere (and to an extent I agree) that engagement / pre wedding shoots are usually requested by those who are worried about how they look or have existing insecurities.

So they have the shoot, don't like the photos and take that fear to their wedding day. Last year I got a few calls from brides who were questioning their togs ability or were looking for another one because they didn't like the photos...when they was nothing wrong with them. In fact they were lovely.

Chris, that is exactly how I feel. I've got bad skin and although I'm on yet another medication to try and clear it I'm still worried it will look awful on my wedding day and want to see what a photographer can do to make it not look so bad :/

I have also thought about not having a professional at all as maybe my acne will be less apparent in non professional photos...

Don't worry Han, good natural lighting will fix a lot of that. It's the redness which can be a problem to deal with but it really depends how localized and how much there is.

It's only really something you'll notice in the close ups (which get treated differently anyway) and you'll see it more than others.

Non professional photos will show it more. Especially if they use direct flash as the light will permeate the skin and reflect the redness back out making it look worse than it is.

Brilliant news, my wedding has pretty much been planned in a year and I know that a lot of ladies on here have done it in a lot less time than that!

Beautiful venue! I can completely understand the concern about your skin. I had bad skin when I was younger. The Dr prescribed a contraseptive pill and some roll on thing for my skin and it cleared it up brilliantly. I don't suffer now at all. Have you been the the Doctors about it?

Don't be concerned about your photos at all! The last thing you want to be doing is worrying about how your skin looks when the photographer is around because it will put you on edge. I agree with Chris, natural light will hide that and as a final option there is photoshop.

Another bride of mine felt she had bad skin and for her, the key factor was a good make up artist. Wow, this lady did an amazing job and I could hardly see the issue looking at her let alone on camera. It had light reflecting particles in it or something. Went over my head haha.

Hello! Ah how strange! What are you having for your wedding breakfast? Have you eaten their before? We are thinking of trying the food to get a taste of what it's like. I'm getting married July 2014, so a bit of a wait!

Hello, Aw a bit of a wait then! We went to Leigh Park on Saturday for Dinner and were blown away by the food – we were told we could mix and match menus so for the wedding breakfast we have decided on Pate (it’s homemade and soooo tasty), roast pork, followed by strawberry stack which was highly recommended to us by one of the waitresses! I fell in love with the venue all over again on Saturday and just can’t wait until June! Definitely go and sample the food! They don’t have a tasting menu for wedding couples but do offer a buy one get one free system – so a fairly cheap meal out yippee!!!! I also went and met Sarah P, the photographer on Saturday and can’t recommend her highly enough!! Have you decided who to go with yet? xx

I'm still deciding on photographers. We are going back to Leigh Park on Wednesday to go through the plan and hopefully put a deposit down and then I will look for a photographer properly when I can give them an exact date Smiley smile

Really excited to go back though, once the venue is sorted I can crack on with everything else wooo!

Hi Han. I'm just down the road from you. I would highly recommend a local TOG he also does videography. He is very talented and a really nice guy. He isn't on Hitched so don't know whether to band his name/work around but if you PM me I can send you link etc. hope that helps.

There are some fab TOGS on here to if you can get one a little further afield Daff Waves is amazing!
