Wimbledon - Murray's 1st game

HeidiHole, 23 June, 2009 at 16:26 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 14

How dare Chardy win a set against Roddick when I'm waiting to watch the Murray game.

Some people have NO manners. Hmmph!

ETA: Have edited the title to save having two posts, Murray is warming up now.

You think that's rude? Far worse is swiss television showing Wawrinka v Schwank instead of Murray. I realise Wawrinka is Swiss, but that's hardly a good enough excuse is it?

Well, that's just not tennis, is it ?

Can you watch it anywhere else? Want me to keep you updated on the score?

When papa grouch says he knows him..... he may not actually have met him. ?

Mr FtG Sr is involved in the students union where Sree has been elected president, but hasn't actually taken on the role. As soon as sree is out of the house Le Daddy grouch will have to work with him. Please vote to keep him in ?

Waaaah, do we save Papa Grouch or save our sanity. You'll have to campaign on the eviction threads to try and win the hordes over ?

Papa gruch will have to face sree eventually (unless he gets deported - sree, not PG) - he can fight his own battles ?

How embarrassing if Murray goes out in the first round?

What's the general Murray-feeling in the UK? is he as adored as Henman was (at first, anyway)? I really liked Henman in the first few years, and was desperate for him to do well. Feel slightly ambivalent about Murray, tbh.

I think people want him to do well but there isn't the affection there was for Henman, so maybe it's a case of people wanting him to do well for GB, rather than wanting to see him win.

Murray's quite grumpy though, I've seen him interviewed a few times and he borders on being rude. There's only so long you can put that down to his age, there are lots of other top young players out there who are polite and charming. Roddick, for instance.

Maybe some meeja training from his sponsors could help ?

Murrays had a media adviser for a couple of years now, it used to be a former Sun editor and hes recently switched to Simon Fullers 19 management.

Ive never seen him be rude in an interview; I think hes more laconic than anything else, with a very dry sense of humour. I agree that it doesn't always come across too well, but I think the media over here play it up to an extent as well. Murray is more focused on the tennis than worrying about the niceties, which is maybe where Henman went wrong ?

Well he's through, but Kendrick made him play his socks off. I always feel bad when a player who seems nice loses though ?

I thought Kendrick was lovely - very charismatic, with a great smile and a sense of humour (those mad dives were excellent)

    Murray - beaver-faced and miserable.

I understand that people want to see a nice personality like Henman, but tbh I'd rather Murray stays the same and win matches. Being nice doesn't win you trophies. Personally I really like him, cos I see his mannerisms and it shows that winning matters to him more than anything else, I like that in a sportsman.
