Wine AGAIN??

loopy_linzi003, 11 March, 2014 at 19:46 Posted on Planning 0 6

Hi all,

cwould anybody mind telling how much they are paying or have paid per bottle of wine or per half bottle a head at their venue? Or even better if anybody is in the hotel/venue industry how much of a mark up you put on bottles of wine?

My venue have changed my package like i explained in my last post, original package included drinks and now it doesn't. I am now working out how much our drinks will cost. My venue want to charge me £21.00 per bottle, for a bottle of wine i can buy for around £6.95. I feel thins is a steep mark up considering I am wanting 15 bottles and beer on top. Am i being unreasonable thinking that they should be able to do a better price?

Thank you in advance x

It very much depends on your location, but I'm paying £16 for still wine, £21 Prosecco or £5 corkage for still, £7.50 for Prosecco. £21 does seem rather steep if it's a basic house wine.

The venue charge £15.00 per bottle of wine and £20.00 per bottle of sparkling if i provide my own. The house wine the have offered is £16.00 per bottle but it honestly isn't drinkable, It tastes worse than vinegar. I have tried 2 others which i really like, 1 is £21.00 per bottle and the other is £22.50 per bottle and the rose wine is the same price. They are lovely wines so i keep telling myself i don't mind paying that price but i think my biggest gripe is that they are charging me the same price as they charge any tom, dick or harry at bar. Like i said I'm not sure if i am being unreasonable expecting them to give me at least a little bit of discount off their "normal" bar prices considering the amount of bottles i am ordering and the fact i am paying for after ceremony drinks and toast drinks on top?? Stressing over it a little really. Think it's just the fact i know they are selling me a £7 bottle of wine at £21.00. I know they have to pay wages and make a profit but can't help thinking it's too much? ? xx

Ours is £16 a bottle (internet research, the white is sold at £5 a bottle, the red is around £7.50 a bottle)

The sparkling wine is £25 a bottle (no idea what it is!)
