Winter Honeymoon ideas.

jesikab4u, 16 October, 2014 at 20:29 Posted on Planning 0 12

We was really hoping to go to New York for our honeymoon for 2 weeks over christmas and new year, but h2b can't commit to spending that money. So gutted as I really would love to do this!

does anyone have any ideas that is reasonably priced and that will be very Christmassy. We would love snow, not a must but do want a cold wintery christmas.

im not very good at looking for stuff. if we stay in Europe we would love to stay in a cosey log cabbin with a jacuzzi but I just can't find any I have no clue how to search for these things. I've looked into lapland but that's just as expensive.

really appreciate some help on this as h2b doesn't know what he wants and is no help on this matter lol.

thanks :-)

Lapland has all the log cabins and log fires in them, if you choose to skip Xmas/new year the prices drop a lot! Were going with inghams and their self catering log cabins are much much cheaper than the hotels and include flights/transfers. There are supermarkets which can bring the cost down as eating out is expensive!

other places worth looking at might be Austria or Russia?

We;re going to Canada but it was too pricey for Xmas so we're going 3 - 12 December instead and it will still be all Christmassy and lovely.

Europe wise i would suggest Austria (i looooooooove Austria), Belgium or Germany. You can still get some really nice chalets with roaring log fires and Xmas starts in November in most destinations now anyway with all the lights and decorations ?

I hope you find somewhere though.

Maybe we should look into going just before Xmas to bring costs down. Thanks ladies :-)

Austria is lovely! what about Prague? Oh has booked his stag do there for March and it's going to be around 0 degrees.

I would think any of the skiing resort type areas would be a good shout as a starting point for that christmassy feel.

Off the top of my head: Romania, Norway, Iceland, Germany, Italy, France, Switzerland

I went to Bruges (Belgium) for a long weekend in December one year and that was lovely and Christmassy - loads of quaint little shops selling hot choc and xmassy things. I loved the whole feel of the place (and of course it was cold as well!)

Would any of you know where I could search/find where to rent log cabins? I'm searching but not really finding much.

Try the ski holiday companies - a lot of them do chalets (catered and private) in ski resorts and just outside (so more private) but you don;t have to be a skier or go boarding or anything just use them for accomodation and transport

We've used the following when going snowboarding before.....

    Crystal

    Neilson

    Go Montgenevre

    Pension enzian (Saalbach - Austria)

Prague, Budapest or Bruge are all beautiful.

Just look at Budapest for a view!

If your thinking lapland we used inghams and probably will again for our wedding. Our log cabin was lovely, underfloor heating, a small log burner in the corner, drying cupboard for jackets etc and a sauna! Last time we stayed at yllas but this time were going to levi so can't comment on the levi cabins but no doubt they are just as nice! We also got cross country skis and toboggan included haha
