Witesses?

warlycarly, 2 July, 2012 at 14:33 Posted on Planning 0 17

Hiya, was just wandering who you have chosen or will choose to be witnesses? And Why? I have only just come to think about this as I am filling in the ceremony planner.

We're only having a small wedding, there will only be about 15 guests so we have decided to have our mums as our witnesses.

Traditionally it is the best man and maid of honour.

We're having two good friends (not a couple), we picked our own. Think it's nice to have someone else involved in the wedding.

We will probably have my mum's cousin and his wife (I call them my auntie and uncle though).

Their daughter passed away when she was only 17, and their other daughter doesn't want to marry, so they'll never really get involved in a wedding so I thought this might be nice for them.

I'm having my eldest brother and OH is having his big sister. We thought it was a nice way to involve them and saved me having to pick of of my BMs over the other.

I wanted my mum to be a witness as i only have my mum and brother and my brother walked me down the aisle, so I wanted my mum to be involved. My H picked his dad. I had a MOH but our wedding was very small so we wanted it to be family.

We were thinking about the best man and my brother. I know it's usually one man and one woman, but I dont't hink it matters....does it?! Anyone know?!

Yeah I think traditionally it's meant to be MOH and Best Man, but you can have whoever you like.

We are having our mothers as they don't really have a specific role as such in most wedding, despite their vital importance to the day - we wouldnt be here if it wasnt for them! I think it's a nice sort of right of passage - them having our birth certificates and then witnesses to our marriage on our marriage certificate... but then I am a bit soppy like that! ?

We are having our mums too because we are both the youngest in our families and at our siblings weddings the mums havent had a role so we wanted to include them both x

OH and I have only decided on 1 so far. We're having my best friend. I'm leaving the other witness up to OH to decide, as we thought it would be nice to have one from each side!

Nope, doesn't matter, whoever you like so long as they are legally an adult.

My H had his best man and I had my brother, as I wanted to involve him in the ceremony.

It is tradition to have your bestman and maid of honour but have who you ever you want. Someone who is important you and been a part of your life for a long time. My H also had his best man and I had my brother as it made him part of our day.

We're having OH's mom and my aunt. We wanted them to have a role in the wedding too, I know it's not a man and women but I don't care these people are special to us and we wanted them to have a part.

Our Mums because as the others have said, we just wanted them to be involved and thought it would be nice for them to have a role in the ceremony.
