Women who met their partners in very unromantic places/situations for national newspaper feature

LindaHN, 16 January, 2013 at 14:46 Posted on Journalist Seeking... 0 8

Hi, I'm looking to chat to women who met their partners in very unromantic places or situations.

Maybe it was at the dentist or on a late night trip to A&E... or their eyes met in a crowded multi-storey car park or in the frozen aisle of their local supermarket.

But it led to love!

This is for a nice, positive feature for the women's section of the Daily Express.

£50 fee paid on publication. Will involve a quick phone interview and a photo.

Please email me on *************.*********@*****.*** if you're interested in taking part.

Thanks.

Linda

Hi Linda, I met my future husband at a race night at our student halls on my second night at university. He was a freshers rep and I was a fresher who had just moved 100 miles away for university the day before. I turned up half way through the night to the race night and we only spoke at the very end when he asked if I wanted a lift into town with my friend to go clubbing and now we are due to be married almost 8 years later.

Hi Misselle, thanks for getting in touch!

This sounds interesting. Did you get together that night?

Please email me if it's easier.

    Thanks.

My OH & I first met over a dead pigeon, under a tree in town. I was poking at it with the toe of my boot... ?

    Hi Lil,

Gumtree is very interesting too - do you have a bit more info?

Were you selling something/buying something and got chatting?

    Thanks,

    Linda

It was on the meet new friends session! Smiley smile If it is interesting enough, let me know and I will send you an email with the details, but if you think the other stories have been more interesting, no problem!

Basically, I was shopping in town one afternoon with my boyfriend (let's call him D) at the time, and we stopped to sit down on a bench under a tree - D knew my OH (I'd not met him before) and the tree was outside where he worked; D wanted to catch him on his lunchbreak for something.

I noticed that under the tree was a dead pigeon. I have something of a morbid curiosity so I started nudging at it with the toe of my boot, and making "eww" noises, just as OH came out of work ?

He laughed, said hi to D & made some comment, I looked up as I realised he was there... and it was a proper eyes-locked moment, over a dead pigeon! ?
    ?

We didn't get together til a good couple of years after that, but needless to say D isn't mates with him anymore... ?

I met my fiancée, Chris at a student night in Derby, he was absolutely dripping in sweat as he chatted me up. I was too drunk to realise he was chatting me up & snogged another guy whilst he was in mid-flow. It took his best friend at the end of the night to tell me how devastated he was, he gave me Chris' number & I texted him that night to apologise. The next night, we went on our first date & he hasn't left my side since.
