Work!

sr3693, 13 July, 2012 at 14:01 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 15

Is there anyone out there who actually enjoys their job?

If so what do you do?

I kept my motivation up before the wedding because I knew I had that to look forward too, it kind of kept me going! Now my motivation is completely gone!

I have plenty to do but don't want to do it! I can't concentrate! I am just bored and just feel it's time for a change! The problem is this is a safe job and it pays well...not sure if I can ride it out until a baby (hopefully comes along) in the next couple years!

I feel exactly like this at the moment! If anyone has any advice I would happily listen! I think my problem is that I'm a project person and need to constantly be working on something new, with a finite amount of time to do it in. My current job interests me and I enjoy many aspects of it but the day-to-day aspect wears me down and I feel like I can't juggle all the things I have to do and remember - I'd rather have one or two major projects to do and be able to move on from them when they're done.

I can't look for another job because of the baby, but while you are in your safe job it might be worth keeping an eye out for other jobs?

No, I really dislike my job at the moment. Being dumped with more and more work but no extra pay. No thanks and never had a review as I effectively have 3 bosses and no one takes responsibility for it.

Nothing I can do really at the moment as we are TTC soon and I need to stay.

The only upside is the overtime working at our stadium contracts occasionally, really busy, cash office work and troubleshooting. I really enjoy this.

I hated the job I was in before the wedding. I took a new one two weeks before and now I am in a department that I love doing a job that I enjoy. I am a housing benefit officer in a local authority.

I have good days and bad days. I'm a supply teacher so it normally depends on the school.

I generally enjoy mine, I'm a video game artist, and always wanted to do something creative, but despite most people saying 'oh you just get to play games all day' (no!) there are boring moments.. the 10th day of making a tarmac texture for example... sigh!

I'm a teacher and I love my job. No two days are the same, so I never get bored. The kids make me laugh - often when they don't mean to - and I get a buzz from a child saying to me 'oh I get it now'. I love that I make a difference to their lives. This may be in a really small way, like encouraging them to try something new or sorting out a squable with their friend. Or it might be helping them with their future plans or supporting them when they are having a hard time at home. I love it when I inspire a child enough to take my subject further to university and employment.

They are all so different and have such different needs and wants. For some children taking their maths A-level at 15 is amazing and something to be celebrated, with others it might be something tiny (and to the outside world, insignificant) like find their way around the school on their own and going to lessons without help.

There are hard days and when a lesson goes badly or a child kicks off it can be hard to start again and reflect on what went wrong and how you should change things. But when it works it is an amazing feeling. It's also disheartening when you read yet another thing in the paper or listen to a politician telling the world how bad our schools are. But every job has its downside and the plus points far outweigh the negative.

I'd recommend teaching to anyone - it is such a fulfilling job and I can't imagine doing anything else.

Yes! I'm a Children's Nurse, at the moment working in a Special Care Baby Unit..... I do have days where i don't want to go in or where i come home feeling awful and like i could scream but i don't think there's any job in the world where you NEVER feel like that! On the whole i really love my job, i feel like i;m doing something worthwhile and helpful and i find it really fulfilling, plus i get to be with cute babies all day! ?

I love my job. Im a recruitment manager for an energy supplier. I like the interaction I get with people, its quite varied and I get to give people jobs. Its awesome.

I get to make a difference within the business. I select what roles people progress into and I am in charge of all new starters so its nice to see the people i select doing well and succeeding in their roles.

I'm an occupational therapist on an elderly hospital ward. I generally enjoy my job, except for when the wards are really busy or I have a particularly complex case, and then it can be really stressful. I love working with elderly people and, cliche as it is, getting to help people is really rewarding. I also get to work autonomously, which I also enjoy as I don't like being bossed around!

This describes me down to a tee. I was working in events management and as many of you know ? I was working for the Olympics but I found although it was a massive project there was too much time to go and too much faffing about. I'm now working for an events/promotions production company, I have monthly projects with curveballs thrown in all over the place and sometimes just days from initial enquiry to having to install/deliver something. I've been insanley busy this week but I've absolutley loved it, even though its been hard and stressful!
