Work outfit help (for tomorrow)

NumbNuts, 10 June, 2008 at 16:35 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 12

I have to go to an awards presentation tomorrow with a v minor royal. Am collecting a certificate for my company, but have just had a bit of a moment that I don't know what to wear, since a) I don't really want to wear a suit and b) the sun is shining and all my dresses are winter/too dressy/too casual!

So do I

a) Wear a suit

b) Waer a mustard yellow dress I have - it's just below knee, cross front, A line skirt, wide brown belt

c) Wear a strapless white and blue flowery dress, with white cardigan, so not to be strapless

d) Wear one of my staple black work dresses

e) Buy this or something else https://www.george.com/browse/womens-clothing/dresses/product-10157/

If it's something else, remember I live in the sticks and I have until tomorrow to purcase, so it'll probably be a supermarket purchase

Well i would say buy the George dress as haven't physically seen the other outfits, it seems perfect for the occasion and would suit you.

However, you may discount my opinion as you have met me and know i have zero fashion sense!

Tomorrow is meant to be cooler and possibly showers throughout the UK so that might help with your decision.

The george dress however is really nice and a bargain at £16 I may go and buy it myself. ?

Hard to say without knowing more about the event - is it day/evening; willl it be worky or socially; will there be food and drink served; is it inside or out...

As it is a work event, I'd be inclined to wear a work outfit, as I guess you are representing your company, but something pretty - perhaps a suit with a nice summery top?

However, the Asda dress is lovely - would be perfect for a "garden party" type event.

I'd wear a suit as well - maybe with a bright top to liven it up

Poo, it's too warm for a suit <sobs>

(it's also going to be back at my old place of work, and cowbag ex boss is hosting it, so I want to look fab and smug)

Thanks for all your help earlier. Before you all dash out for that dress its nowhere near as nice IRL, it (strangely for the price) looks quite cheap and I don't think it'll wash well.

I've gone for a black linen tailored suit and deep purple top, with purple shoes (in case you want to know)
