Hi All,
I am readily accepting that this report is WAY overdue. Unfortunately, my life has recently become very stressful, leaving one job, getting married, coming back off honeymoon, starting a new job and moving house!! We have only just got back internet (thanks very much Mr BT!) and so this was my first priority.
Some of these pictures may look very familiar as me and Gabs got married at the same venue only a few weeks apart and so i'm sure both of us would recommend The Yorkshire Hotel in Harrogate.
Gonna keep the writing short as I know most of you skip to the pictures anyway ?
Saturday 20th August went by in a blur!! Luckily one of my friends had taken the majority of the venue decorations to the hotel on the Friday but I was still amazed with how much stuff was shoved into my little car. OH and I then drove the 20 ish miles to the venue, had much fun parking on a Saturday lunchtime and went and checked in.
We stayed in separate rooms for tradition and nerves sake so had a lovely walk around Harrogate until our groomsmen and bridesmaids arrived and helped us unload the car - all into my room!!
The rest of the day was spent catching up with my girls and getting our nails done while the boys went to see Inbetweeners 2! We then had a big meal in the evening for everyone who was staying in the hotel/area the night before. This was not quite so relaxing but that's just my family for you!! The boys then stayed out drinking while me and the girls had facepack, bubbly and bridget jones in my hotel room. The facepack resulted in a very pink bridesmaid's face the next morning but thankfully the make-up artist fixed that!!
Sunday 21st August: The big day!!! This started off with the hilarious "military procedure" to breakfast, in which one friend/bridesmaid would check around every corner to make sure OH wasn't there. A little OTT but very funny and sweet ?
I honestly can't remember much from then on, we'd put together the flip flop baskets, bathroom baskets etc the night before so we started on my hair straight away after eating very little breakfast.
Halfway through my hair we had a bit of a palava as the hotel had organised for me to check out at 12 but not check into the bridal suite until 2- which is when the ceremony started! (Apparently the receptionist was new!) Luckily I had my girls and didn't know a thing about it until they had a solution. Cue a benny hill style move into my friend's room for an hour while the hotel staff sorted out the bridal suite. It also turned out that my friend's room was on the same floor as the groom and groomsmen and so 2 of my friends felt the need to guard the doors!! Again, you had to laugh!
Finally the make up artist arrived, we were settled in the bridal suite and everything calmed down, the photographers arrived and, coincidentally, a brass band was playing on the high street, distracting us with versions of "Valerie" etc.
After a few photos and a lot of winching into my dress I was ready to be interviewed and get married. I truly don't remember much of the ceremony apart from my dad telling me to slow down as I was walking down the aisle. I didn't even noice that my H2B at the time was counting off how many times I cried to the rest of the room! Cheeky git!
The day flies by, don't let anyone tell you any different! We had some amazing photographs (some of which involved the photographer stopping traffic while we crossed the road!), a gorgeous dinner and a lot of drink and dancing afterwards. The sweetie bar, flip flop basket and the bathroom baskets were a hit, so many people came up to tell me how great they were.
So here are a few pictures of our amazing day. I'm so happy but sad it's over at the same time xxxx
