Would anyone have a pattern to make cravats?

boogiebelle, 10 May, 2009 at 10:28 Posted on Planning 0 7

Without sounding all matchy, matchy, the suit hire company we are using doesn't make cravats in the colour we need so we are going to make them.

My Aunty has offered to for us but we need a cravat pattern to follow. Does anyone have one?

TIA

We are having the same problem! The suit hire company we are using can make them or my bridal shop has offered to make them too. Have you asked them yet?

The suit place can't and the bridal shop is quite expensive. As someone has offered to make them for free, would only need to buy the material. Thanks for the advice though.

    Thanks Cheeky. That's really kind.

Yeah, I seem to have done lots lately too and there are quite a few things that I need to do now but don't seem to be getting round to them.

I am exactly the same. I wanted the ushers cravats to match the bridesmaid dresses so we decided to have them made but the bridal shop quoted £30 a metre for the fabric(we need 4 metres) plus the cost of actually making them. As my nan is doing the bridesmaid alterations for me she offered to make the cravats and has bought a Burda pattern from John Lewis for about £5 (she wouldn't let me pay as she wanted to contribute). We really struggled to find the right colour fabric, we tried lots of shops and markets but couldn't get anywhere near until we found - by accident - an extra large pair of curtains in a local bed linen store that is absolutely identical to the dresses, they were reduced to £25 and we should get all 8 cravats out of it. This is my best bargain so far!! They probably won't be worn for very long so it didn't seem worth it to spend a fortune.

I was exactly the same and bought enough material to make cravats as per the bridesmaids dresse. Burda do do a pattern as does butterick.

What we did in the end was take another cravat apart that was sent to us by a Mark on here and we made a pattern from that. They look fabulous and I can not say how grateful I am for all Mark's help.

Good luck and lets see pictures when they are done
