Would anyone like to discuss Autumn weddings?

irrelephant, 16 February, 2011 at 16:08 Posted on Planning 0 13

This is my latest idea, an autumn instead of winter wedding. I love the pictures of oranges and red with browns and minimal amounts of yellow. My big problem is i don't like the colour yellow all that much, i know it is really weird but certain shades of yellow make me feel sick <insert weirdy icon here>

Is anyone having an autumn wedding? What colours are people having? Is it likely to just be a wash out? i know we don't get all those lovely autumn scenes here like they do in North america. My cousins got married last october and it rained all day!

We're getting married in September in the New Forest, and have ivory/hunter green as our main colours, with 'autumnal accents' in table decorations etc - yellow, gold, orange, red, brown. We've also got some pine cones which we're using as placename holders.

Works so far even if we haven't quite finalised our table decorations.

My friend had a mid-September wedding, the weather was awful - cold and wet - the entire week leading up to the wedding and on the day it was hot and brilliant sunshine!!!

You can never guarantee the weather in this country - I am planning for rain in March, anything else would be a bonus!!!

    I love autumnal colours though...

    Hello stranger

I got married on the first of Oct 2010 it rained all day but it was still amazing and we had some fab couple shots in the evening when the rain stopped.

The report is on here somewhere look for wonderful wet wedding

We didn't have autum colours, but I did have bunches of wheat as pew ends and venue decoration and in flower arrangments. Plus being autum meant we could serve everyone lovely warming food.

I think autumn is a lovely time of year to get married. You can get some glorious, golden days, if you time it right the trees look gorgeous, venues are cheaper than the summer months and guests are less likely to be on holiday! It's as likely to rain in the summer as it is in the autumn. If you want almost guaranteed sunshine, you need to go abroad! The last few autumns in this country have been dryer and sunnier than the summer! We got married on 16 October 2010 and it was mostly really sunny and quite warm. It rained a bit on the way to the church and then it rained again as we were about to leave the church so had to miss those photos. Oh well. We had a colour scheme of ivory and claret. My bouquet was cream, dark red and burnt orange and it looked stunning. Why are you even considering having yellow in your colours if you don't like it?! Red, brown and orange are more autumnal than yellow.

Thanks all. its good to know some of you got lovely weather. Very true about the weather being so unpredictable.

Babybee12, i wouldn't necessarily have yellow. it really does make me feel a bit funny!

I can't decide whether its a good idea or not.

    Hey

We are having a September wedding and are having "standard vintage" as our colour scheme so not very autuminal.

What about replacing the yellow with gold?

I probably would use gold instead of yellow actually, yes. Very good idea. I did consider maybe chocolates and champagne as a colour scheme with orange thrown into the flowers?

We're getting married in October and our colour scheme is purple, white and silver. Rich and bright.
