Would you buy a car that had....

Done 110K miles? And it's 3 years old? The car I'm after had a facelift so this is the new shape, the only way I can afford the new shape is to have one with loads of miles on it. Or I can afford the old shape but with less miles but still between 50k -70k on the clock.

It seems a lot but the car is just ❤️

Depends. HAs it done a lot of motorway miles? This can mean less wear and tear on everything else. Also, is it petrol or diesel? Diesel engines, accrding to Mr G, will go on for longer.

If the interior didn't show too much wear then yes. Some contract hire cars/rep cars/ex company cars do thousands of miles but they are motorway miles with fairly small amounts of stress on the engine. They tend to be regulary serviced and maintaned as it's part of the contract and doesn't 'cost' the user to have it done.

If it's been taken care of internally and doesn't have a worn steering wheel, knackered carpets, etc., then I'd happily buy it. Rather that than one thats done 20,000 miles round town at the hands of some little old dear

It looks spotless inside (from the photos).

Not sure if I'm just being vain wanting a new shape and letting my heart rule my head?!

I would call a garage and check what it should have had/will soon need in the way of servicing and new parts- lots of cars start needing fairly substantial things replacing at around 100k and you'd need to factor that in if it hasn't been done.

I'd also work on the assumption that you will get nuppence when you sell it.

But given all that, I would definitely consider it.

What type of car is it? If it was a Mercedes or something like that and had a full service history and came from a trader with some warranty then maybe.

If it was a Kia or some kind of Korean car, then probably not!

    I wouldn't, but then I wouldn't buy a car with 60,000 miles either.

My thinking on the initial question is that it has obviously doen over average mileage so, unless you are going to do ridiculously low mileage whilst you own it to bring it back down, then it is going to be fairly hard to sell on.

110,000 in a 3 years? that's a lot even for a diesel, would be hard to sell on if you do a lot of milage but if you are only doing a low milage and sell it on in a few years it will look better IYCSWIM

If your budget is tight then I'd go for the old shape with less miles, and then have a look in a couple of years time, then again I refused to buy any car that was red so I'm not as straightforward when I'm choosing

I wouldn't buy it. My last car was 5years old and did 125,000 miles and the engine blew up. It was owned by my fiance from new and was serviced every 10,000 miles. My 'new' one is 6 yrs old, has done 15,000 miles and it's fab. Feels a lot newer even though it's older iyswim. x

Mr Mal (mechanic) says that miles are not a problem as long as the car has been serviced and well maintained.
