Would you hire, or be comfortable driving, a left hand drive vehicle?

Hi, it's been a loooong time since I've Hitched, but I hope I'm OK to ask this question to help me with a quest! I'm trying to find out if the vast majority of people would be put off hiring a vehicle if it were a left hand drive model, even though that was the particular type of vehicle you wanted to hire, nothing else would do the job, and the next available right hand drive option for that model was a 70 mile journey away (approx 1 hour 45 min drive). I'm keen to get answers from both men and women, so if you have a partner in the house who you could ask at the same time that would be an enormous help. My husband is happy to drive pretty much anything regardless of whether it's a left or right hand drive model and is convinced that most people wouldn't be put off - but he has experience of driving all sorts of vehicles, so he's not phased by it. I, on the other hand, am not so comfortable, despite also having experience of driving left hand cars and driving/riding other vehicles...........it's a bone of contention at the moment and I'm sorry not to be able to go into great details at the moment as to why it's an issue, but hope it won't put you off from helping me! Thanks in anticipation of lots of replies! ?

Happy New Year to everyone whatever you're doing - probably something more interesting than this!

Wouldnt bother me, but then I did drive a LHD Smart for 2 years before the RHD models came out in the UK. Mr WT doesnt have a problem with a LHD either.

There is a definite safety issue. On a single carriageway, in order to overtake another vehicle, you need to get more of your car across the central white line in order to see if it is clear to overtake.

I have no problems with LH drive cars in the right country, although having driven my RH drive vehicle on the continent quite a lot, it does make a difference, specifically if its a lorry or van that you want to overtake.
