Would you panic? Venue changed numbers. Grrrrrrr.

rockclimbingtigger, 6 May, 2009 at 10:54 Posted on Planning 0 7

Morning Ladies ?

Saw our venue yesterday to go through a few bits, and they've bloody changed our maximum numbers! (Been trying to find where I've written it down originally to have an argument with them, but can't find it now! ?).

We were originally told a maximum of 70 for the day do, preferably 60 as the room fits better. We'd got it to 66. Now they tell me they cannot go above 60 at all, not even 61. So I have two choices.

1. Find another venue that we both like with five months to go that we can afford, and is all on the ground floor for our less mobile guests. ( I live in the depths of Lincolnshire...not as easy as you'd think!)

2. Try and prune 6 people off a very small list already! (We have *huge* families).

I know we have to do 2 really, and no point to this post, but grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr ?

It just makes me soooo cross. Just needed a place to vent, and so I didn't kick the wedding organiser at the hotel.

    Hiya,

to be honest i would fret! when you send your invites out i should imagine at least 6 people wont be able to make it!! However that is leaving things a bit to chance!

Have you signed a contract which specifies the numbers you are allowed?

I'm thinking with 5 months to go you're invitations may not have been sent out yet?! Is it possible anyone won't be able to make it?

    What does your contract say?

It isn't fair they have changed their minds after you have paid the deposit.

I wouldnt panic, although it is a pain. i am sure some wont be able to come anyway, so the problem might not even be a real problem.

out of interest, did you used to be on Hitched under a slightly different name about 2 years ago? if not, ignore me?

Dont panic as im sure you will find that some guests wont be able to make the wedding and as for looking for another venue that would probably cause a lot of stress (i know as had to find a new venue with 11 months to go). we have got most of our replies back and so far 12 people have said that they cant come so hopefully yours will work out

It's almost cetrainly due to fire regs that the numbers have changed. Can you cut +1s?

I used to post a few years ago under a similar name, be about 5 years ago now though! Was on WP for a while then on BT. Why do you remember me? <<stalker icon>>

I've spoken to mum, and she agrees they are being barstewards. We are having a look around now, for another venue, but not holding out much hope. Haven't sent the invites out yet, and we are printing them, so i guess thats one thing! (bright side icon)

Will let you know how the culling goes after we see the inlaws tonight!

Thanks all for making me realize I'm not being a complete bridezilla.
