Would you still wear a wedding gown if you were getting married abroad?

Or some summery short number?

Just wondering........

Absolutely, I think a full length wedding gow at any venue - buidling or beach, looks stunning.

I'm wearing a calf length dress for our beach wedding, I'm the bride and everyone will know it ?!

Definitely! When else will I be able to? There ate some great "destination" dresses you can get, Dessy and Maggie Sottero do some, also Amanda Wakeley has gorgeous but slightly pricier ones, they are lighter fabrics so more suitable for hotter climates. Im planning on an empire line silk chiffon gown, maybe with an open back, and get married on the beach, just wear some glam sandals and your sorted!?

I'd definitely wear a wedding dress but perhaps one that is lighter than what I chose for my wedding here. I'd still have a full length gown.

I wore a full-on wedding gown with train for my vow renewal earlier on this month. it had a corset back and lace overlay, i didn't feel remotely hot and uncomfortable despite what many other people thought and it was simple to take on the plane - I used a box I purchased from ebay and got my dress maker to carefully pack it using tissuepaper and refused to loose sight of it - even on the sea plane and boat trip! i also went barefoot, I did take some sparkly sandels with me but decided against them on the day.

Here's a pic to give you an idea that anything is possible!

    Lovely pics, Essexmum!

I would definitely wear a long gown for a wedding abroad. Probably not a big dress with a huge skirt, mind you, as it may be a tad too hot! Then again, I'm not having a big dress and I'm getting married here so it may just be me.

I'm wearing a full on wedding dress, i tried to upload a pic, but it won't let me but i'll try again later. I just didn't feel like a bride in anything less. I know it's about the marriage not the dress, but how often can you wear a full on wedding dress. I'm getting married in Turkey next september about 6pm so it should be a bit cooler by then. I don't think i'll be too hot (she says now!) because i'm the kind of person to wear a jacket no matter the weather. x

Everyone seems to assume wedding abroad = hot climate.

I'm getting married abroad, but I'll be wearing long dress, wooly tights, long johns, ugg boots... :p It's not that warm in Slovenia in February!

I compromised and went for a BM dress for my wedding dress... it was a hot climate so a full on dress wasn't for me ... I found the destination ranges that designers did quite unforgiving on someone with a less than perfect body - and they were still pretty heavy and many layers of fabric - might be better with Monsoon or Debehams / BHS if you want a long dress but not a full on wedding frock.

Mine was a Truebride BM dress - £200 and with it being a 2 piece it can be worn again!

I'm wearing a full length dress for my wedding, but no train on it. Picked Taffeta as it doesn't crease as bad, and its a bit cooler than the full on lace one I wanted originally! x
