Was a post about how to remember loved ones who wouldn't be with you on your day, started off a bit ? and fluffy as usual but then I was sobbing by the end. Lucky I've got a cold and no one at work notices what I'm doing anyway!

I don't usually let stuff like that get to me. In my defense I'm hormonal!

I never usually venture over there - and usually I'm ok with threads like that - but got to me today, and I'm annoyed!

It wasn't even the poem that seemed to get me worst, I skimmed over it incase!

To be fair, on the list of things that have made me cry today are my keepboard rattling and my colleague talking too loud on the phone!

I stuck my factual four-pennorth on the thread - my lovely Pa died two years before our wedding. I missed his presence and that he didn't know I was getting married (he actually died a few weeks before we got engaged) but maybe I am a hard-hearted beeatch becasue I wouldn't have wanted empty chairs.

Really personal opinion alert......I'm afraid I loathe poems like that. It's a bit Hallmark card for me and hence elicits no reaction but despair at the mangling of the English language. But at least it didn't make me cry!

AC I’m a bit the same as you. I won't post my opinion on the WP thread because I don't want to upset anyone but I hate those sorts of poems and I hate the empty chair idea.

OH mum died at the start of the year and his dad wants an empty seat kept me and OH aren't keen at all, I think that would make it more obvious that they aren't here.

My mum is doing out order of day for us and is determined she wants a photo of OH mum in the book somewhere and how she is missed. OH is horrified at this and tbh I’m glad he is because for me it just screams funeral book to me but I didn’t want to be the awful person to bring that up.

We’re going for the subtle things by having flowers she liked in our bouquets and a small photo charm attached to my bouquet too.

That's dignified and very sweet and thoughtful at the same time. Thumbs up from me.
