Writing my xmas cards/save the dates and oh...

LeaLeigh, 12 November, 2011 at 21:53 Posted on Planning 0 4

I have realised that I may have over invited.

We decided 80 in the day and 120 in the evening. So far I have now 83 invites for the day and thought of a couple of people I want to add.

Also do I feed the tog and vog? If so I have to include them! Luckily DJ is a close friend anyway as is our potential violinist.

OMs in your experience does everyone you invite turn up?

I am certain of 3 or 4 who due to work committments (teacher, long haul pilots) may not attend anyway.

About 2/3 of our original guest list responded.

In the last week before the wedding we had 12 dropouts, and four more people on the actual day (3 due to illness and one just didn't bother to turn up).

Of course, that may not be typical - but you can be fairly sure that someone won't turn up whatever happens.

I haven't included the TOG, VOG or DJ in my number for food. Not sure what the etiquette is. I planned to speak to the wedding coordinator and ask of they could be issued with vouchers to eat in the hotel resturant (we will pay for the voucher).

It varies - check the T&C on the contracts.

Some suppliers expect to be fed and watered all day, others are happy to sort themselves out and are grateful for anything.

We didn't feed our TOG during the wedding breakfast but told him that, along with the band, they were more than happy to help themselves to the evening buffet and they were grateful for our offer.

I can understand with a TOG that's there for 8+ hours but I've even heard of a musician who's only there to do music before and after the ceremony to expect to be fed as well. Seems a bit cheeky to me really.

We're inviting about 90 but only expect about 50 to come. Though our situation is slighty different and getting married abroad so a lot of people won't come as they are elderly and house bound or just not in a financial position to come, but we felt it was a nice gesture to invite so they know they were thought about. There will be a few that won't be able to make your wedding due to other commitments etc so I wouldn't worry too much with an extra couple of invites
