Writing or printing guests names on invites?

Vikster79, 24 November, 2010 at 19:47 Posted on Planning 0 14

I am currently just wrapping up the final details with our DIY invites and am having a dilemma. We are printing our own invites and was going to leave the names out and write them on (nicely?) nearer the time when people are definitely confirmed, however, im now thinking that perhaps they should be typed on, but as we keep changing the guest list (so indecisive as we are only having 40 to the day) im just worried that I would have to print more and therefore the money that we will be saving my doing them ourselves will turn into an expense! HELP im driving myself mad ?

    Hey my lovely namesake!!

We had our invites made by a friends mum which are gorgeous - but as like u our guest list keeps changing we got her to just put a line in where the name would go and then we are going to write the names in just before we send them out!

    xx

Our invites didnt have the names on at all. Instead we wrote the names on the envelope.

Its more personal to write them on. if you or OH has a nice curvy handwriting, then it will look great

We (I) wrote all of them by hand as we (I) were (was) happy that our (my) handwriting would survive the test. We (I) also bought a nice pen for the job.

I set up a mail merge to print the names on my invitations. This way I don't need to worry about handwriting getting progressively worse or spelling mistakes Smiley smile

I am only including names on the envolope because I would need different sized lines for different invites.

For example we have one to "Nan" and one to "Uncle Pxxx, Auntie xxx, Nxxxx, Lxxx, Txxx and Jxxxxx-Txxxxx"

Were having guest names printed on the week before and we ordered 10 spare invites incase of any changes ie break ups etc. We have not made our own invites though so the company who is printing them wants all the names on a spreadsheet so they can print them on the inserts.

For another £30 they will actually stick all the bits& bobs on a card which I think I'll do - one less bit of hassle for me! Smiley smile

We arent putting names on the invites. We are just putting names on the envelopes! Much easier this way and you can make as many changes to the guest list as you want!
