Writing your own vows - Civil ceremony

Buzzee, 14 October, 2011 at 21:08 Posted on Planning 0 1

We're writing our own additional vows for the ceremony. Just wondered whether anyone else has done this and did you share the vows with your OH first or keep them secret?

We need to get them approved by the registrar so could send them seperately so that isn't a problem. I just like the idea of each other not knowing about the vows until the day!

    Hey winterbride,

My OH and myself are writting our own vows too, not lots, just a few things we wanted to add to make it our own, like personal, we are making it up together so we both promise the same things to each other.

2 bits we know we are defo using are: You are my life, my love and my best friend, and may this ring be a reminder of our love and commitment....etc

and another bit is something like, the person i want to grow old but never grow up with.

I think ppl who know you well enough will understand both of your vows and your reasons for saying them, and those who don't will just have to wonder lol

    good luck
