WW or SW?

Marley, 29 July, 2009 at 10:24 Posted on Beauty & Wellbeing 0 3

I've lost around 20lb since Christmas by doing ELMM. I've very much stagnated now and I think I need to do a structured diet to give myself a bit of a kick up the arse. I want to lose around 1.5 stone by this Christmas.

I've done both WW and SW in the past and have lost weight with both of them. I had issues with both though. With WW I started to get terribly obsessed with points and became a total diet bore. With SW I didn't like the over emphasis on things like quark, muller light and sweetner (this could be from my MIL who is a lifelong SW'er and eats loads of miller lights and sweetened quark)

I like to cook from scratch but I like to cook from scratch with nice things. I wouldn't for example want to make a cake out of branflakes so that I could eat 2 slices. I'd rather have half a slice of proper cake.

Can you do that with either diet? I really need to do something or else I shall remain porky forever. I'd really value some opinions from those who are doing these diets.

I'm doing WW. No food is bad for you, you can eat whatever you like...you just have to remember to stay within your points! So if you want a slice of proper cake you can do but you need to work out where you can save points, like 0 point soup etc. I had a pecan and golden syrup pastry thing last week, was loooooooooovely ? Just had more salad and stuff at lunchtime and saved some points that way.

At the moment I'm having porridge for breakfast, 3 points and keeps me full till lunchtime. Then a big salad for lunch and for evening a WW recipe, recently I've done roasted tomato sauce with pasta, mexican beef tacos, chicken stirfry and roasted salmon which was lovely!

I've done both ww and sw and am currently doing sw. ww was great until I got down to 22 points a day and then i found I was constantly hungry. I ended up cutting out all fruit just to save points and i started stagnating. I then moved to sw and it was great to be able to eat fruit again. I must admit I do eat a couple of muller lights a day but I refuse to give in to the call of sweetner.
