WWYD? Anti-social behaviour

Hey all, hope your having a nice friday night.

We have recently bought our first house, in a new development, which is beside another housing estate. Over the summer months, we have had kids, who are no older than 10, throwing stones at our windows and running. Obviously they are just bored kids, and I have tried to ignore it, but they have thrown stones so hard they have chipped my front window. Tonight they were throwing them again when myself and my sister left the house, and became verbally agressive. Now they are no height, so I'm not scared by them (even though i'm 7 months pregnant!) but the house beside us has become vacant after the couple who lived in it suffered the same problem, but confronted the kids, who in turn told their older brothers and the older ones came down and burnt them out (nice.)

So i'm in the house on my own as hubbie is away out for the night, and I'm abit scared. It just infurates me that the best thing to do is ignore them as they want an audience, and i want to ignore them, but not when they are going to damage my property! I phoned the police and they just said ignore them.......ARGHHHH!!!!!

So do I just ignore them and let them bore themselves?? I just wouldnt want a retaliation attack.

I would take note of their addresses and report report the matter to the council/housing association concerned. They tend to take ASB issues seriously in my experience. I know you fear reprisals, but I am sure that there are other families these little hooligans are hassling. Their parents need to be accountable.

I hate to tell you this but my grandmother was in a very similar situation and in the end the only solution was for her to be moved from a house she had been in for over 30yrs (it was a council house). The police even went as far as installing video cameras for a number of weeks/months and despite hours of footage and the fact she knew most of their names addresses and had numerous witnesses they wouldn't/couldn't do anything, the whole thing was a joke, some of them already had asbos and were banned from being on her estate in the first place. I only hope they are better in your area and it doesn't escalate any further.
