WWYD? BM Dresses

Royalty, 26 April, 2008 at 17:44 Posted on Planning 0 7

Evening All!

i am having my bridesmaid dresses made and we have chosen the style, would you still take your bridesmaids to a shop to try on a similar style to make sure they all suit that style or would you just not bother?

xx

Yes I would, just to make sure they were all happy. Much easier to check beforehand than to make a potentially expensive mistake!

Definitely, I went with the other BM to try on dresses and what looked lovely on her, looked terrible on me and vice versa, even though we're not that different!

I'm so glad we did because we found a style which neither of us would have gone for first time, but actually really suits us!

Its allabout the cut of a dress that counts, so you cousld try on a style of dress in a shop, but if a dress maker cuts the dress differently, it will not fit the same. so if you are having a dress made, go with the dressmakers reccomendations, as she will know how she "cuts" her dresses ?

Does your dressmaker have her own shop where the girls can try on her samples or will you be providing the design which she just alters for each girl?

Absolutely take both your BM's to a bridal shop and see what suits them both, my BM's are both different heights and different shapes.

I took my best friend round first because my brother's fiance wanted to get a new bed that day £2500 ? so some styles looked great but I new that with my brother's fiance being a wee shortie ?, the styles just wouldn't suit, I opted for a 2 peice which thankfully looks great on both ?

A good dress maker will be able to advise you on what styles will suit what figures.

We had our bridesmaids dresses made, and they were both VERY different shapes. They actually ended up with the same style dress, but with lots of clever cutting / amendments to make them fit them both beautifully ?

If your bridesmaids are very different it might be worth conidering different dresses in the same colour?
