WWYD - Christmas present for a friend

Bowski, 25 November, 2008 at 20:36 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 4

I have a friend, we're quite close but don't get to see eachother as often as we'd like. Every year I spend a long time trying to come up with the perfect present for him for xmas and birthdays, each year he says he's got me something and it never appears. I don't give him presents to get them but it's starting to annoy me this is the 3rd year it's happened.

The thing that really bothers me is that he never says thank you for his stuff, it takes me to ask him if he recieved it and if he liked it. This year I've seen what I want to get him but part of me is thinking I could do with the money this year as things are very very tight.

So would you get him the present anyway or not bother this time and then see what happens. (I spent a HUGE amount on his 30th present and it took me 2 weeks to get him to tell me that he'd got it, never mind if he liked it)

I gave up doing presents with most of my friends a while ago. We decided to make the effort to meet up instead. If he's unapreciative and you don't have the money then either don't bother or buy something small or make something.

If he appreciated what you did, and money wasn't tight, I'd say go for it.

However, as he seems to be a bit of an ar$e when it comes to being grateful for your thoughtful presents, I'd say forget it.

Thanks guys, I've been wrestling with this one since september when the whole birthday present issue happened.

I'll not bother, if he gets me a present I'll buy him what I've seen and send it in January when things are less tight as I don't have other presents to buy.
