WWYD - Hair and Make up related

Damiana, 14 January, 2009 at 15:52 Posted on Planning 0 3

Ok, need to think about this one, but would like some advice as i'm at work, and the only girl, so need some girlie opinions.

Last year I was asked to do a photo shoot and be a "real lives" person for Look Magazine. As part of this, i had a lovely lady who did my hair and makeup for the shoot, and also a stylist who was lovely too.

I was so impressed with the make up artist that i've asked her about doing my hair and makeup for the wedding. I've spoken to her and although she lives in London, and the stuff that she has done before all looks great, and her client list is brilliant, she is happy to travel all the way over to Gloucestershire the morning of my wedding, do my hair and makeup and then head home afterwards. For this, she is only going to charge £250.

I've had an e-mail from her as when i spoke to her, i wanted things confirmed by e-mail, and what she has said is that she doesnt need a trial run with me as she has already done my hair and make up before, so she knows what to expect.

The question is, should i go ahead and say yes without a trial? (its mainly the hair that i'm concerned about), or insist that i have a trial and have added expense....or should i get a trial from my local hairdressers and make sure that i take lots of pics and say, this is what i want, please copy.

Lucky thing is that i dont want anything fussy going on with my hair, just a real natural look with flowing curls and maybe half up, half down.

When i was a bridesmaid for my brother, the lady didnt do a trial on me, and my hair was lovely.

What should i do???

I'm tempted to go for the 3rd option - get a trial locally and take lots of pics.

I think I prefer the 3rd option as well having trial at local hairdressers, only because I would be worried if you decide go go half up, half down & curls then on the day you decide you dont like it, you going to be stuck for time - plus I like my hair being played with haha!

    Hope that helps

The 3rd option is good as you will get to see how long the curls last. I was advised against curls as they drop quickly unless there is a lot of product on them.

I would go for the third option too - probably a bit cheaper than her doing a trial, but like KB3 said you'll see how the curls stay. Also, I'm having my hair similar to how you describe and thought it would be simple, but i hated what he did the first time at my hair trial!! Luckily he changed it sharpish, and fingers crossed it will look fine on Saturday, but i'm very glad i had the trial to sort it.

Also, a trial is good if you have any kind of hair accessories or a veil, as these can alter how your hair looks/what can be done...

Thanks for the replies ladies, its as i have thought and i'm going to go for the 3rd option.

I've got naturally curly hair, so its going to be a case of not IF the curls will stay, but how tame we can make my hair! lol

well, now got to decide where i go to get the trial.....how long before the wedding should i get it done, or should it be really an as and when thing for when i have a weekend free.

    Thanks again!
