wwyd nuisance phone calls

glynbo, 7 August, 2009 at 08:35 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 3

Early this morning at 3.30am our phone rang and I raced downstairs to answer it and it was a wierd child/young woman who really calmly kept asking random questions who was I, what age was I etc. I was really cross as I have a new baby and a toddler and parents who are of an age that when you get calls at that time you immediately think the worst. I said dont ring here again and put the phone down but she rang back and said really calmly again 'why shouldn't I ring back?' freak. I turned our phone off then.

The number was private and my only course of action is to log my complaint with BT, block all private numbers and/or phone the police - should I just leave it, I'm pi55ed off and tired, so probably wanting revenge on some stupid kid isn't the smartest thing.

That's a good idea. I hate private numbers.

H and I went through a phase of having mobile phone companies ring our mobiles trying to offer us upgrades by telling us that they were our mobile phone company but when we quizzed them further they did not know anything about our phones/contracts etc

Anyway, we used to just put the phone down on the side without hanging up the call. You could hear them calling 'hello' 'is anyone there?'

They gave up after a while, seemed to deter them.

Just thinking that it might deter your nuisance phone caller if they are paying for the call in a phone box etc as they are wasting money. Even if it is the middle of the night, do it and go to the loo and I would have thought when you go back to it they will have hung up.

But I do like Nonie's suggestion too

You're right its better to deter rather than think i'll find out who it is. That's a good idea too to walk away, I'll give it a go. I think by giving her a reaction and getting angry, she got what she wanted.
