Wwyd? re someone using our address?

Rach123, 23 October, 2008 at 15:14 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 7

I've recieved 2 CVs from France today asking to work on my cruise ships.

They had misspelt the address, it was accurate, but no postcode.

I've googled Gamex which is the co they were writing to, but nothing related comes up.

If its a one off fair enough mistake, but 2 cvs on the same day? who would you contact? or wouldn't you bother?

tia

ETA I don't actually own any cruise ships ?

Did they come from the same area in France? Could be one person with the wrong info sharing it with a mate.

I'd ignore it unless you get any more, sounds like more hassel than its worth.

Love how you clarified that you don't own any cruise ships! ?

A prank? I was plagued by phone calls for a couple of weeks after one of my colleagues put my company car up for sale in the free ads. Cnut ?

Can't offer any advice, and I apologise for hi-jacking your thread. Strangely enough this week I've received 4 sets of correspondence from Churchill and Direct Line for the same bloke at my address. It did make me wonder whether someone's using my address for some fraudulent purpose but I have no idea how to investigate.

Rach, no idea. Do you think it could be the Fates suggesting a new sideline for you? ?

I'd send these straigh back marked 'Not known at this address', then get a copy of your credit reports (experian and err.. equifax?) and make sure he's not linked to your address somehow. if he is, then get him taken off

We had two people in two days coming to rent a room in our house. Not much I could do about it but make them call their contact. They defo had the address right. You know my house anyway - not renting rooms out for sure.

Return them to sender and do a quick BT check on the company name - they may be close by - but I doubt it where you live.

    Sorry cant help more

I used to get regular faxes offering to bid for our impending forklift truck disposal. I always used to ring and say they'd got the wrong number, but it never made much difference.

They were so surreal that I rather enjoyed them, but they were seriously barking up the wrong tree given that I was running a small London cinema. ?

Potentially someone trying to create a 'legend'.

On no account put any wrongly addressed mail in the bin....
