I could have written your post! I totally sympathise. I don't have much in the way of advice other than if the maternity package is that good then try and stick it out and think of the bigger picture? That's what I have done, after 9 years bored senseless, as we were going to start a family (now 29 weeks pregnant!), so I am gritting my teeth and counting down the minutes till I go on maternity leave.

Oh dear! I have the absolute opposite problem, I have way too much to do. I would let them know that you'd like more work! I can't imagine that any employer would have a problem with hearing that from a member of staff! ? just don't word it that your work only takes you a day ☺ you could definitely take some of the managers "lesser" tasks off her, makes a lot more sense to spread the workload.

Totally agree with MrsShep. I would go into your appraisal and say you really feel you have developed in the role and you are hoping to progress within the company and take on new challenges. I would say that you feel there is more that you can take on in addition to your current role and makes some suggestions of tasks. I cannot believe that any employer will turn down an offer to do more work! I have the opposite problem too and my boss is about to go off on maternity leave. Scratch that - come and work with me...

*This*: as a manager this is what I would want to hear - you have a capacity & willingness to take on extra challenges & skills that could be used rather than you find the work dull & boring

My thoughts exactly. I am sure they will love you diversifying in your role, you get to do more things and develop even further.
