I did a hamper for my very elderly uncle last year and he loved it. So much so that I will do him another one this year.It gets a bit difficult trying to think of gifts for a 94 year old

I went to M&S and put in a mini Christmas cake, mini mince pies, jam, tinned fruits, and other store cupboard foods as he's reliant on friends to get shopping for him. stick with quality foods and a nice wicker hamper and you can't go wrong.

Oooh MissusS, I have a huuuuge block of Stilton from my drunk purchasing on Thursday evening - you could put that in ?.

If your after some really special local goodies, I am hearing lots about the chocolate factory in Leyburn (although perhaps not approprate for your Dad), and there is the local brewery too.

There is also somewhere called "Otterburn mill" just down the road which do amazing home made chutneys/jams/sauces, vinegars etc (and some home made ready meals and cakes too, while your there!). I'd pop in some bits and bob to go with them - crackers selection, fancy crisps etc.

As for booze, if you can get H to take you to Manchester, Selfridges do this self bottling package - you chose a bottle which has 3 sections and then fill them with your choice of goodies. You'd then write a message on the front - they are fab, I keep meaninig to get H one, but forgot, again!

Decent biccies are also always a hit?
