X-Posted: Autism Bill

Jacksmum, 16 February, 2009 at 09:37 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 6

My son has a form of Autism, I'm therefore really passionate about supporting the forthcoming Autism Bill which is due to go through Parliament at the end of February. We need 100 MP's to commit to supporting it. Please, please click on the link below and email your local MP to raise awareness.

Thanks in advance....

Please help the Autism Bill get through Parliament.

Check if your MP is signed up for the vote here:

The bugger about these Private Members' Bills is that they are heard on a Friday. Sadly what you will find is that the MP will be in the constituency that day. I can't remember the last time 100 MPs were present for a 2nd Reading on a Friday.

    ☹️ Sorry.

I don't know a lot about how the Government works but after reading Gigi's post I'm a little disheartened. Well, I've emailed my MP and will be asking my friends and family to do so as well. Thanks for letting us know about this Jacksmum.

    I've emailed my MP too.

I am an Inclusion Manger in a large sedcondary and am amazed how many children with ASD (and there families) aren't given the support they need. At the moment I'm dealing with a boy who is obviously ASD but had been given a diagnoses of ASAD.

I hope this goes through - some serious sorting out around the ASDs - Wonderstuff, I see your struggle to get kids the support they need and raise the look of fear on parent's faces when they realise they child is starting the transistion process to adult 'services'.
