Yes I know, another walking down the aisle topic!!!

haylee81, 30 April, 2012 at 09:50 Posted on Planning 0 9

I don't even know what to type, I'm dumb struck! I'm getting married in under a month and have spent hour after after trawling you tube and having no luck! You'd think for me being a retired DJ it would be easy to chose but not when choosing main stream music!! I don't think my family would take kindly to Krafty Kuts and the likes of "breaks" music!! I'm supposed to have had my music in to the registrar by now but my mind is at a loss. When choosing did you take your family and friends into account or just decide on the music that you and your partner wanted, I'm worried about people turning there noses up at what I may choose! I have until tomorrow to make my decisions and it's not going well so far lol. H x

All you have to remember is its your day, you play whatever music you want. We are having all upbeat music as i dont want any slow soppy songs, some said were like 'oh well thats not very lovey' some people were 'thats a really good idea' we chose that as thats what we wanted.

Why would guests who love you and are there to celebrate with you, turn their noses up at the music choice? If they do then they can't be very good friends/family members and therefore why do you care what they think? Choose something you love and will enjoy on the day! What other people think didn't even occur to me.

I've been to various weddings (including my own lol) and the music has been different at each one. For ours, as it was very traditional and in a church, we had the usual entrance music. Other weddings i've been to had different things, more upbeat, more lovely dovey. It is your wedding, have whatever music you want

Have the music that suits you, your friends and family know you so i dont think they would be expecting anything too traditional or mushy.

I used to say i was going to come down the aisle to 'Ready or not, here I come, You can't hide....'

There was a thread on here yesterday about someones mum turning there nose up at one of the most used entrance song ever as she remembers it was used in a documentery 30 years ago!? so i think the moral of the story is just have what you want as theres always going to be someone who hates it, theres no need to tell anyone or ask for there opinion (other than your oh). no one will dare say anything about your song choice after the wedding has happened!

Always go with what you and your fiance want for your wedding music. If you are truly stuck, seek the advice of friends and family or ask the musician(s) you are using on the day, but above all make sure it is music YOU want to hear as it's your special day.

If this doesn't work you could look through some of the websites of wedding musicians in the UK, as they might write in their blogs about some of the music they have played at various weddings, or list a repertoire of songs they have performed.
