Yet another WWYW (What would you wear)

memyselfandi, 8 June, 2009 at 20:04 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 3

I have to admit defeat and dress around my lardiness rather than hoping my daily gym sessions, low GI diet and personal trainer are going to allow me to lose ANY weight (bitter, moi?).

I have my son's christening a week on Sunday and would like to look as little like a beached whale as possible. I was a 12 pre baby, I think I'm about a 16 post pregnancy. Below are pictures of me in a lovely Vivienne Westwood dress that used to look stunning to give you an idea of current body shape, I cannot describe how depressing looking at those pictures are for me and to add insult to injury, I'm wearing a shaping body suit.

I'm about 5'10", 38D ish, ok calves, jelly belly, horrid upper arms, blond and blue eyes, would prefer to stay away from black. Budget up to £300 for something that will be flexible enough to fit me as a size 12 and that won't date or about £100 for something that 'will do'. Before I would have gravitated towards something quite tailored but am thinking with the multitude of sins I have to hide my 'style' won't work for my body. I'm also thinking I'm going to have to go low to mid heels to avoid the 'woman mountain' look.

    Your calves are fab ?

How about a DVF or similar wrap dress? Will continue to fit as you lose weight and hide upper arms.

I agree with Sophie- your calves are fabulous. I'd kill for long legs.

there's a DVF dress I've got my eye on- sort of safari style...would look lovely with big coral necklace, hang on...http://www.matchesfashion.com/fcp/product/Matches-Fashion/womens/diane-von-furstenberg-dvf-v-d7970521p9-dresses/9742?colour=olive or is that too plain? I love it, anyway. They don't have your size on that site but loads of people stock DVF.

You should've seen what my calves used to look like ? years of showjumping that is.

DVF/similar wrap is a great idea. Knownowt, that dress is gawgus but alas, my hips won't allow a full skirt.

I've fallen in love with this http://www.matchesfashion.com/fcp/product/Matches-Fashion/Dresses/diane-von-furstenberg-dvf-v-d7546166d8-dresses/8387?colour=black.

    Must. Lose. Weight.

    Thanks both
