I'm a fellow York bride, getting married on 25th May at the Register office with the reception at a local hotel.

How are your plans coming along?

I am a Leeds bride - getting married six weeks today!

I am getting married in the church local to where I grew up and then the reception venue is in Otley.

I do love York though - me and OH went to York uni and met in a nightclub there - not sure I should admit which one - the shame!

I too would have loved to marry in York however with currently living in London, my OH being from N.Wales and my family being in Leeds adding another area to the equation would have been too much!

We are though spending our second day as a married couple in York as it holds so many memories for us.

I'm a Barnsley bride, getting married next August at our local church with the reception at Wortley hall. Barnsley is the town we both moved to as a couple so its special for us to get married there rather than where i come from (suffolk) or where he comes from (leeds)

Scottish bride here, who lives in South Yorkshire now and is getting married in Cumbria.

We're not getting married until June 2013 so currently only have the venue, registrar, florist and photographer booked. Have a few other idea sorted out in our heads too but they might change as time goes on. Biggest headache at the moment is my dress, but I knew that wouldn't be straight forward.

Are you getting married in the church at Wortley ?

i live about 15 miles from york (inbetween york and scarborough) getting married on 14th June 2013 in Goathland. Having a small wedding (c. 38 guests) then in the evening having a party with around 150-200 guests.

No we are getting married at our local church in Monk Bretton, as we are already in the parish so a lot less hassle plus it means more to us than the church at Wortley

Would you ladies class me as a Yorkshire Bride???

I'm originally from Brighton, but met my OH in Scarborough (North Yorkshire.) We're getting married down south, but living in South Yorkshire :-)

I'm a Wakefield bride...getting married 7th September at local church then reception at Oulton Hall. Can't wait!!! ?

I was just being nosey because I really like the look of the church in Wortley. I've no idea why really but i always comment to my OH, how nice it is when we pass by it.

We loved the look of it too and went to see the vicar when we went to their last wedding fair. We would have had to have attended once a month for 6 months to get married there. Not so bad because we attend church but when we went to see him his first words were 'Oh you've obviously just come from the wedding fair' and it felt a bit like we were visiting for the wrong reasons so decided to use our local church.

Getting married at Weston park Bandstand, not for another two years though, we have very busy lives ahead of us!

Hi. What a fab response! It's lovely to hear about people getting married in places I know of.

We get married on 8th September in York Registry Office. Not long till your big day Jolene. Be great to hear how it goes esp since we are getting married in same place. The gardens are nice if it's a good day & we'll be close to the Minster & Museum Gardens too for photo opportunities.

All the weddings sound great.

Also, any connection to Yorkshire counts! I grew up in Cumbria (where abouts are you getting married 2b_MrsB)? but lived in Yorkshire for over half my life so I've adopted it!! Lived in Doncaster, for a couple of years too as my OH is from there.

As far as preparations go, we've got most things booked I think but still quite a bit to do. Haven't got rings, got to book photographer & lots of last minute stuff to do as quite a DIY wedding (cakes, flowers, favours, puddings for night do) so it's going to be really hectic beforehand as I tend to leave stuff till last minute!!

We're getting married in Kendal on 22/6/2013

Went to a wedding at Carlton Towers a few years ago. It was lovely. It's quite stunning & Gothic-looking as you approach it & real oldy-worldy inside. It was alovely day so we were able to sit outside after the service. It will be great. x

I went to secondary school & college in Kendal & grew up in a village about 7 miles away. Did all my early drinking in the pubs of Kendal (of which there are many for a small town)!

We used to get Border television so felt like we lived near to Scotland somehow as all the news was about Dumfries & Galloway. I love Scotland by the way! Used to go on scooter rallies there, up to Fort William & Oban on my Vespa!

Cake lady .....Kendal is lovely, we opted to avoid the being too close to the lakes as it gets very busy there in mid summer so wanted somewhere that felt more private.

Im getting married April 2013 at Goathland and I cant wait!

Planning is coming along quite well - dress ordered, flower girls dresses bought and all the amin things booked (photographer, cake maker ett)

I LOVE York and we originally looked at numerous venues but unfortuantely they were out of our budget.

Another Yorkshire bride here ? We had considered York as its such a beautiful city, and we often go there for the day to shop and see the sights. As we are having a small wedding, we chose Woodlands Hotel in Leeds for both the ceremony and reception.

OH and I both from Yorkshire (East and West respectively) but now live in Derbyshire. We love Yorkshire though so we're getting married at the Yorkshire Sculpture Park

Hi Leeds Gurl. It's really nice at Woodlands Hotel. We went to a wedding reception there a few years ago & it was lovely.
