Your favourite book...as a child

Mellow_Yellow, 13 March, 2013 at 09:31 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 31

Mine was anything Enid Blyton, especially the ones that involved the Enchanted Wood and The Faraway Tree. We had a big wood near our house and I used to believe that it was magical, just like in the books.

I loved Roald Dahl. My favourite was Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Charlie and the Great Glass Elevator. I had a big hardback version that had both of these in it. I read it over and over.

I think I mentioned it in the other thread, but my favourite was Goodnight Mr Tom. Other than that I used to read Goosebumps, Point Horror, Animorphs, Babysitters Club, Sweet Valley High etc.

Can't believe I forgot Goodnight Mister Tom! Love the film too! We went to see the show of it when it was on but it wasn't quite as good.

Black Beauty, Children of the New Forest, The Railway Children - I read these over and over. I also had a lovely book about twin sisters whose birthday it was, and they discovered that the tree in their garden was magical. I have no idea what it was called though!

I loved it too and remembered it as being a lovely programme about animals, but I watched it on YouTube recently and it's horrific! Half of them ended up getting killed!

Despite the picture of Fiver on my avatar, I can't watch Watership Down - it's too traumatic!! "All the world will be your enemy, prince with a thousand enemies" ?

How little? I loved Peepo and Each Peach Pear Plum when I was small. When I was older I loved the wishing chair, the July Blume books, sweet valley high and those teen horror ones. I hated famous five etc -they were too goody-goody
