What are your highlights of this year?

Mine, in no particular order, are:

- My first Glastonbury festival, in particular watching Leonard Cohen who was one of my late Dad's favourites, with the sun setting, tears streaming down my cheeks. The atmosphere was absolutely electric

- Getting onto the Masters course I've wanted to do since I left uni 10 years ago

- Losing a stone

- Watching my favourite band, The Cribs, at Reading Festival on the Sunday night. I smoked my last cigarette during their set and haven't touched one for nearly 4 months. Giving up smoking is definitely a highlight of the year

- Getting out of this job. 7 days left and counting.

It's been a pretty rubbish year here. Just the one big highlight, the birth of my daughter nearly 5 weeks ago.

    • Having our daughter in February.
    • Finally moving in to our family home after months of work being done on it.
    • Being made redundant - I have to see it as a positive as it has forced me to think about what I really want.
    • Seeing my tiny little baby (premature) growing in to a little chubster!

It has been a shite year here, too ? but I guess some highlights are:

    1) Starting to write again and getting some positive feedback from that

    2) Watching our daughter grow up into a little person, and hearing her speak her first words

    3) Niece moving in (although sadly I don't think she feels the same way).

What a nice thread. Mine are, in no particular order:

    • getting married (and having over 4 weeks off on holiday!)
    • starting yoga classes with H
    • going snorkelling for the first time
    • losing almost 3 stone
    • Not being made redundant when my department was restructured (? to those who haven't been so lucky)

I'm another with a meh year. I can only think of making a couple of new friends (and also losing a few after the marriage break-up), and starting my photography course.

    Roll on 2009!

Up until yesterday 2008 had been just an ok year

I got a new job in February which enabled me to stop working weekends, nights and bank holidays.

I love my new job and actually quite like going to work.

and yesterday after a bloody long time I finally got a BFP so now 2008 has turned into one of the best years yet ?

Achieving my dream of a Boston qualifying marathon time in October, this has been my ambition for so long and to finally see it happen was amazing and made me so proud of myself! The best thing was it was actually pretty easy.

A fab season just enjoying my horse at smaller low key competitions. Its been refreshing and he seems to have improved loads for it.

Watching my son really become a little boy. Also when someone asked him what he wanted to do when he grew up he said "run marathons"

The best thing is we've got some pretty exciting times ahead. After this training break my coach and I are pushing on for an elite start qualifying time for the London Marathon.

There may be a consultant job locally for my husband which means that we can buy our dream house in the next village....

Mine are a bit twee tw@t but anyway

Finding out that I hadn't had a second miscarriage in a month but in fact had a healthy pregnancy, despite initial scans

Finding out that Tabitha didn't have a life threatening genetic disorder

giving birth to Clementine at home, even though it didn't go according to plan

Watching Tabitha finally take her first steps at the age of 2

and a lovely holiday in France in the summer with my parents, with Tabitha absolutely loving her first go at sandcastles, and meeting up with good friends and their three boys on the beach for a lovely day on the sand.

What a lovely thread. 2007 was a dreadful year for me, and I'm very pleased to report that 2008 has been a LOT better:

    - getting married (and our month backpacking in Thailand after was pretty special)

    - realising I am in charge of my own happiness, finally doing something about it and not worrying about what other people think

    - starting yoga. It has actually transformed my life.

    - starting my new job. Its OK work wise, but the pay is good and the people I work with are fast becoming very good friends.

2008's been kind of nothing-y for us really, I'm hoping 2009's going to be really exciting, but my highlights are:

Our holiday to California in September (with the corresponding lowlight being that we don't live there and it will probably be a long while before we go back), plus being able to go and see my favourite NFL team twice, once over there and once at Wembley

V Festival in August, with two of my favourite bands (Muse and Stereophonics) on the same stage - Stereophonics were pretty amazing when we went to see them earlier this week too

I was lucky enough to go to both the recent Harlequins-Stade Francais Heineken Cup ties, one in Paris and one over here, anyone who knows anything about rugby will know what fantastic games they were to be at

My nana managing to sell her house in Spain very quickly earlier in the year, after my grandad died last year, and get herself settled nicely back in the north of England. Also getting a very generous Christmas gift from her to be spent to remember my grandad so hopefully I will eventually think of something special enough.
