Your top ten gym tunes?

*ginni of the lamp*, 1 May, 2009 at 14:19 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 16

My 'On the Go' playlist for the iPod is as follows:

Push the Button - Sugababes (not an auspicious beginning I realise!)

*Grace Kelly - Mika

Hey Ya! - Outkast

I don't feel like dancin' - Scissor Sisters

Can't get you out of my head - Kylie

*I like to move it, move it - Will.I.Am

Fame - Irene Cara (yep, the one from the 80s TV show!)

Ruby - Kaiser Chiefs

Wannabe - Spice Girls (I know, I know, but I went to school with one of them, so sentimental)

Mercy - Duffy

*Something Kinda Oooh - Girls Aloud

*Umbrella - Rihanna and Jay-Z

*Somebody Told me - The Killers

Maneater - Nelly Furtado

Crazy - Gnarls Barkley

I've starred my favourites.

Most of these are from 'Now that's what I call 25 Years', a few are amazon mp3 purchases, but I need some new inspiration. So, please inspire me with your top ten (or more, or less if you can't be bothered to type them all) for runnin/gym/exercise.

Thanks

Thanks. Kelly Clarkson's a good idea. I like what I've heard of her so far. I haven't heard of most of the others, except yours anna belle, but I couldn't cope with erasure or PSbs on my iPod ?

    In no particular order;

    Depeche Mode - Personal Jesus

    Cult - She sells Sanctuary

    Beastie Boys - Sabotage

    Goldfrapp - Strict Machine

Michael Jackson - Don't Stop Til You Get Enough

Groove Armada - If Everybody Looked The Same

Bjork - Big Time Sensuality (some DJ mix - can't remember who)

Play That Funky Music (don't know who sings that)

James Brown - Get Up Offa That Thing

Damn, wish I hadn't knackered my MP3 player at a festival last summer - can't run without tunes and have beefed it!

Not updated a play list in yonks, but here are some from my last iPod list. I like to run to these, mainly because they have a good rhythm. I like the way that their lengths vary too:

    Heroes 6:10 David Bowie Heroes

    Comfortably Numb 4:26 Scissor Sisters

You're So Vain 4:19 Carly Simon

Can You Feel It 3:52 The Jacksons
    Supersonic 4:44 Oasis

I have the Rocky II and Rocky IV soundtracks (just the fast stuff) on my iPod for the gym. I find the music so inspiring and it can get me through anything. I love it!

Other toons on my gym playlist are:

Beware of the dog - Jamelia
    Pretender - Foo Fighters
Rebel Yell - Billy Idol (this got me through the last km of Race for Life last year ?
Take me to the Jungle - Guns n Roses

I love Rebel Yell, I might check that out. Welcome to the Jungle too actually, though I don't think it'll make it onto the shortlist. I have such weird taste in music these days - I've always been a rock chick (well, less of the chick!) but I'm really enjoying Rihanna, Nelly Furtado and my ultimate fave, I like to Move It - I'd just spool that if I didn't worry I'd get fed up of it.

I'm definitely adding at least one Kelly Clarkson and Take Your mama (Scissor Sisters), I'll listen to the amazon snippets of some of the others on this list and select some I can live with.

    Thanks all.

Possibly a less popular choice, but I find all but one of the tracks on Muse's Black Holes & Revelations brilliant for the gym. Particularly this one... amazing for really getting you going on the cross-trainer...

    There again, I'm a Muse fanatic, what can you do [laugh}
