cotteesgirl, 9 July, 2009 at 12:52 Posted on Planning 0 23

...moving forward on the wedding planning & thanks to all that emailed about cake makers in essex i am now on the case of getting it sorted.

Just putting this out there as i cant decide and the winning one will be what i have:-

A three tier cake

or

a cutting cake with cupcakes underneath

....

We were thinking about this the other day, so I'd like to see the outcome with the voting!

    Cupcakes! I just love them!

Plus we have a friend who makes cupcakes for a living and hers are unbeleivable.

I like the idea that everyone gets a cake - and the fact you could have a few different flavours.

I'd go for three tiers personally, first it's cheaper if you're on a restricted budget and secondly, I really like the look of all those cupcakes together but then I think when you're sat there with just one on your plate it doesn't look as impressive as big bit of wedding cake...also would it restrict the flavours you could have? Not sure.

I love the cupcakes, especially the big ones with lots of swirly icing and decoration on them! similar to the ones M&S have recently brought out. *NOT in any way advertising M&S!*

mr delicious doesn't like this idea though so i'm hoping if we do go for the teaparty idea i'll be able to sneak in a few cupcakes that way!

Depends on theme of wedding... if more vintage/cutsey/kooky then cupcakes- if more elegant/traditional then tiered cake!

We are having the best of both worlds with 3 tiers of profiterole cupcakes with one big cake (to cut) on the top like this sort of thing

I personally favour the tiered cakes, although not a fan of the pillars in between so would have a stacked one I think x

I LOVE cupcakes (have 60 of the things to make tomorrow night!) but am going for tiers for our cake. Just feels like its the only time we will do this & I make cupcakes for nearly every party we go to. I want more of an American cake with no pillars & frosted type icing.

I do like cupcakes, but since MIL2B is making our wedding cake we're going with tiers as it she can make the fruit cake in advance- I'm worried about her trying to take on too much in the days before the wedding as it is! (She's already doing the cake, making my veil, altering my wedding dress, making the gents waistcoats and ties!)

We had cupcakes with a big cake on the top, it was fab, and everybody remarked on it.

    So cupcakes get my vote

Tiered cake unless you have individual cakes like Spring had because they were gorgeous (more like miniature cakes in their own little boxes instead of cup cakes).

I had a tiered cake and served massive cup cakes for after the ceremony and they went down a storm so the best of both worlds but I'm not keen on cup cakes as a wedding cake.

We couldn't decided so we are having 5 giant cupcakes to get the best of both worlds lol This way we can have different flavours too eg, rasberry and white chocolate, choolate and orange, tofee and banana etc

We are have a custom made cake stand to show them off too

Vote for a tiered cake here I would be paranoid about the cupcakes getting dried out while they were sat looking pretty plus I just love the different ways you can stack/ decorate a tiered cakes

I couldn't choose on this one. So we've got a traditional wedding cake, but we're having mini cupcakes on the tables for favours

Me and partner were going to have cup cakes cause I absolutly love them. But last year we went to my brothers wedding and there on top of a piano in the lobby was a load of cupcakes on their stand, anyway while the photos were being taken I saw a little boy eating one, then a little girl was eating one, I got hold of my brother and asked if that was their wedding cake and when he said yes my heart sunk, 10 cup cakes were missing. The problem was, they hadnt told anyone or put a note with it. Alot of the childrens parents didnt realise it was their cake.

I think if you go for cupcakes you need to make people aware that they are not to be touched till you say its ok to eat them.

We are having a 3 tier chocolate cake. MMMMMMMMMMMMMM, I cant wait

    HTH
