You're tired, you're sore, it's Friday and it's all too easy to be a FND ...

... so would you push yourself and go to a signed Carol Service at a church over half an hour away?

I'm learning sign, and one of my peers rang me at the beginning of the week about this carol service. Her Mum is going (she is deaf), so I'll know at least 2 people. Mr P doesn't really want to go as he too is knackered.

Would you make the effort or curl up and watch a DVD?

LOL JG. That was probably how Mr P felt, but hat off to him, he came. And even he was impressed.

The effort they went to was outstanding. It wasn't a carol service - it was an hour and half play. It was so moving. To watch a blind and deaf person on a stage, signing to a song was very humbling. And one guy nearly had me in tears, his signing was so crisp, so emotional. I looked at Mr P and it was clear he was feeling it too.

They had a small nativity part in the play ... with a real donkey and a lamb! Only a few of us in the audience laughed when the lamb kept bleating .. we were in the minority being hearing people.

The one thing I really found difficult was not clapping, or when we did clap it was again, just the few of us, therefore it sounded half hearted, when really the audience (in my hearing opinion) needed to be clapping so hard. Deaf people don't clap. The cast wouldn't have heard it.

So glad I went .. well worth the effort.
