Are any brides TTC before the wedding?

Hi ladies.

I was just wondering if any of you have thought about trying to get pregnant before your big day or waiting to enjoy being married first? We're getting married next June and I've felt broody for a while now but wanted to wait until we're Mr & Mrs (I've already bought my dress and want to fit in it!) and because I come from a traditional Chinese family where women are expected to be married when they have children. I don't think there's anything wrong with having children before marriage, by the way. I would have if it wasn't for my cultural reasons and if I had been financially stable which I wasn't...

I guess there's no rush but I just can't wait to be a mummy! I'll be 30 when I get married so I'm conscious that it would be more beneficial to have a baby before the 35-mark. I was thinking of enjoying married life for the first few months and see how we feel towards the end of 2015.

What about you? What's your story?

    Hi pink

Your doctor would probably advise you don't come off the pill until you are prepared to get pregnant, but it can take your body around 6 months to settle down and for your natural cycle to regulate. It is much more common for the pill to make you put weight rather than the other way around! The last time I was on it I put on half a stone during the first month. Good luck with your planning!

Ravioliruby, I don't think anyone here is making any suggestions that anyone should have started to ttc when they are not ready to! It is each of our own choices about when is best for us and OHs.

    Hi Pink1986.

I came off the pill for a couple of months a few years ago and didn't notice any weight gain but everyone is different. When I went to see a nurse recently about TTC, she's advised me to try and get at least two clear cycles off the pill before TTC. I turn exactly 30 on our big day and FI will be nearly 33 so we're also very eager to start trying soon! We're getting married in June so I'll probably come off the pill in May, wait for my cycle to go back to normal and then TTC around July/Aug/Sep time. So exciting! Good luck Smiley smile x

Thanks both for your advice! I guess I'm also worried that if I come off before the wedding and my periods become irregular that I would run risk of being on on our honeymoon which I don't want. I really should just come off after the wedding and honeymoon but bet I'll be one of those people who take ages to get it out their system!!

Our first was a very big surprise (I was on the pill!!). We'd only bee together 6 months so was all a bit of a shock!

We then got engaged when he was 3 months old and planned to get married in 2015. We decided to look at TTC just before the wedding with maybe the hope to be able to announce at the wedding!!

Then when our son was 9 months old we discovered we were pregnant! (Bloody pill!!!)

We are now very much done though so will no longer be trying for anymore. Lol

I have to admit, I'd been avoiding this thread for a few days because being in my 30s and with possible fertility difficulties I was finding some of the comments on other posts a little upsetting. OH and I are still hopeful we might be lucky in the next few months, but I'm at the stage where it would almost be a relief to be told we have to try IVF because at least then I'd know one way or the other.

I think it's a really difficult thing to decide because it's just one of those things you really can't plan, nature doesn't always do what you want it to! We've been trying for a year this month and nothing, I would've been delighted to be pregnant before the big day just so I was bloody pregnant but unfortunately it wasn't to be.
However I would echo other posters in not choosing to come off the pill anywhere near the wedding. I had the greasiest, spottiest skin I've ever had in my life within a month of coming off the pill which lasted for well over a month. I also didn't know when to expect my period so for caught out a couple of times. I'd say give yourself at least three month prior to the wedding if you really want to stop your pill.
Good luck with whatever you decide

We aren't even TTC yet (will probably begin trying towards the end of next year) and I got stressed out by the posts so I really feel for you.

I hope you have some good news soon MadamRed!!
