Are expensive shampoos etc worth it?

My hairdresser was appalled that I use some high street shampoo & conditioner on my hair (elvive I think) but in the next breathe tried to sell me her own super delux stuff, so I naturally assumed it was bollox. My hair has been much more silky though and I didn't need to wash my hair until today (so 4 days instead of the usual 2)

Are the expensive ones really that much different?

Like the others have said it depends on your hair. But I am a big fan of the salon brands.

Unlike a couple of others I am a huge fan of bedhead and have a lot of the range. Its fantastic as far as I am concerned and does wonders for my hair. That and they smell pretty fab too.

I am also a big fan of Paul Mitchell, Aveda and Matrix.

I do find though whatever brand I use after long time use its good to have a change and freshen my hair up.

    Sx

Oh interesting question! I have been using TIGI Bedhead ones for the past few months having been bought 2 lots as Christmas presents but am finding it rubbish.

I have greasy roots but dry ends what would you recommend oh hitched ones? ?

I am a hair product addict ? Most expensive ones I have used were good with the exception of one and I can't recall the name but it was in a blue bottle, sort of styles to be like car oil or something ? Paul Mitchell was really good, as was Aveda, I use Kerastase every other day and also Aussie every other day (although I class that as cheap but it works well for me)

I am a total convert on this issue.

I have greasy roots and dry ends, and highlight my hair. For years I used high street shampoo for greasy hair and moisturising conditioners just on my ends. Then I got some tips (Use dry hair products but do the first lather concentrating on the roots and then a second all over) and Kerastase samples from my hairdresser and the difference was amasing.

However I thought it had little to do with Kerastase and bought a high street brand and used it the same way, it just didn't work as well, neither did a second brand so I ended up back with kerastase.

I now use satin bath 2 and masquintense for thick hair. In summer I use the spray on sun protector as well.

id="quote">These are the two products I use. They're much cheaper from eBay than a salon. I only have to buy them a couple of times a year too, so it's no more expensive than Elvive or the equivalent.

I must have weird hair ? because I've used expensive stuff and not noticed a fat lot of difference. In fact Kerastase didn't do much for my hair at all.

Pregnancy ravaged my scalp and I was forced to buy Head & Shoulders recently. I was quite shocked to find that I've got glossier, bouncier and cleaner hair than I've had in years. Bargainous!

Well, you've got me convinced. I've just spent £44 on Aveda products ?

I can't belive I've never thought of looking on E-bay for it. I've currently got giant salon sized bottles that I bought through Amazon though.

I'm using Sunsilk range for brunettes at the mo, i find it really good and my hair is lovely and soft and in great condition. I've tried Kerstase in the past and it's wonderful stuff but a bit on the pricey side for me just at the moment.

Also tried Aveda shampoo and couldn't get on with it, it was fine with my hair but every time i used it i was terribly itchy over my back, i think something in it was reacting with my skin and it was not good at all. My skin is a bit tempramental like that though..even though i've used Clinque quite happily for over 5 years!

I'm currently using the Aussie ones and find they really work for my hair. They last ages too as I don't need much. I've never used really expensive brands so can't comment on them but I've frequently used cheaper brands and not had a problem.
