Artichokes and farting

hazel, 18 May, 2008 at 18:08 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 9

(will be interested to see if that gets past the censor)

Is it just the Jerusalem that invokes parpiness in the extreme or does the globe do it too? Am trying to narrow down why my mini-me and I are both windier than the top of a flagpole in a Force 10 and we (well, I) ate some yesterday. Or could it be hummus? I've never noticed this effect from chickpeas before but then I probably wasn't looking. Or listening.

I thought it was just jerusalem but perhaps globe do as well - gosh i'm helpful today. chickpeas are a more likely candidate.

that reminds me Dr l is back after a couple of weeks away later this week - i'll have to rein in my farting again ?

I thought it was just the Jerusalem? I've not noticed it with the globe ones. I do love Jerusalem artichokes but they kind of have to be a solitary indulgence on account of the fruitsome flappy woof-woofs they cause.

I really don't know, I'm afraid, but I do know that I'm going to spend the rest of the evening muttering 'fartichokes' under my breath.

    ?

I thought Jerusalem artichokes weren't actually artichokes?

they're kind of a sunflower root, aren't they? Whatever they are, they are mighty provokers of flatulence. I made JA and onion soup earlier this year and thought I was going to take off like a hot air balloon.

Jerusalem artichoke and porcini soup is my favourite soup apart from roasted garlic soup. why do i like antisocial soups so much?

They are awfully good for you though. Boop says the farting is caused by all the good bacteria in your gut jumping for joy, or some such.

Maybe we should have an antisocial soup meet. Somewhere well ventilated, like the top of a hill.
