I won't spoil it for anyone who has not yet watched it, but all I can say is I didn't see that coming!

What fabulous acting though, I was very choked at the end.

Ooh, I was just about to post about Ashes to Ashes. Me neither, great episode.

Is next week the last in the series? From the trailer it dodn't look like it, but next week will be episode 8, won't it?

I bloody love Ashes to Ashes will have to console myself with the box set of series 1 when this one finishes.

But it can't be, there's no way they can tie everything up at the end ?

I knew there was another series planned, but last series finished with such a bang (literally) and at least we got an understanding of why Alex returned to the time that she did and indeed to Gene.

I had imagined that the last episode would be centered around the wedding - but didn't look like that from the clip.

Just think, this time next week no more Ashes to Ashes or The Apprentice until next year ?

Brilliant wasn't it? Totally didn't see it coming either.

And OMG @ the sexual tension. Gene has haunted my sleeping and waking dreams since last night. I have never wanted to be a fictional TV character more than than I want to be DI Drake?

It was a shocker wasn't it?

And exactly what Rache said <swoon>

Is there going to be another series set in the 80s then?

<nods head> at sexual tnesion. That bit in Luigi's last night when they were checking each other out was hot, hot, hot.

You know though, I don't think they're actually going to do the deed. They would go back to just hating each other once the tension has been dispersed. Either that or the final ever episode with go out with a climax (so to speak) where Alex's world will implode.

I should not be thinking about this in work. ?

I've only started watching this series. Would someone be able to tell me what the connection between Alex and Gene was before she went back to the 80s?

    Thanks,

    F&G

We found out at the end of the last series that Gene Hunt was there when Alex's parents were in the car explosion. He was the one who comforted her and took her back to the station until her godfather came to collect her.

Alex had no recollection of this / had blocked it out until she saw the incident again as 'adult' Alex.

So that's one connection between them both.

Probably more significant is that Alex (before she went back to the 80s) was doing a study into Sam Tyler (fellow DCI from the 00's who claimed that he was transported back to the 70s - Life On Mars). So she was aware of Gene Hunt and his team.

OK slight problem - I have the HUGEST teenage girl crush on Gene Hunt. It was there before but it's not going away since I watched it on Monday. It was that final scene that did it.

How embarrassing.I'm having to remind myself that he's not a real person. ?

    Is it just me?
