Asking people to RSVP 3 months before?

august-bride-2013, 10 January, 2013 at 10:00 Posted on Planning 0 1

Is this a good / bad idea?

I want to invite family first, and ask them to have their RSVP back 3 months before the wedding.

The reason being that depending on how many accept / decline effects how many 'friends' we can invite (whose invitations would then be sent out 3 months before, with RSVP date 1 month before wedding).

What do you think?

Is your venue OK to have final numbers less than a month before (given it could take a week to chase up the late replies)? If so, fine. However, you don't need to wait until all family RSVPs are back before you start sending friend invitations.

I did my invitation list backwards, friends first then worked out which family to fit in.

    Thanks.

Got my timings wrong - I'll be asking for friends RSVP 6 weeks before from friends (as venue needs them 4 weeks before) :-)

Yes, hopefully family will start RSVP'ing quite quickly so we can start sending friends out sooner rather than later!

I just didn't know if anyone had any bad experiences of people changing their minds etc when asking them to RSVP 3 months before the date!

    Thanks for your help.
