Backing paper for making your own table plan

Mel_ODrama, 20 July, 2008 at 22:02 Posted on Planning 0 3

<Groan> sorry another TP post. I'm missing something here I know I am.

For those that make/made their own, can I ask you what you used as decorative backing paper to mount your plans of each table onto? I've seen loads of wallpapers I like but it restricts how wide you can have your plan, IYSWIM. Otherwise you'd have a join in the middle wouldn't you? Same with wrapping paper

Did you just do your plan dimensions within the width of the paper or is there a secret souce of extra wide backing paper that I don't know about?

TIA

I'm using sheet music which will be torn and stuck down a la collage style.......

if you get wallpaper with a pattern i think you can still get it perfect on the board, afterall you dont really see the join when its on the wall, do ya? and your table settings will draw the eye away from any join....

I'm not having patterned backing paper to avoid the faff of tryig to make it match up. I've got an A1 sheet of dark blue mount board and am printing each list of names on cream paper and sticking them onto slightly larger silver card and then onto the mount board so the silver frames each list (IYSWIM). As Teehee said, you should be able to get wallpaper patterns to match up like you would on a wall, but I doubt wrapping paper designers make their designs so you can do that, unless it's stripey or something.

    Thanks both,

I was looking to be able to just get a straight run of wallpaper asa backing and then mount my tables on top.

Wallpaper manufacturers are pretty unhelpful as they do not seem to make wall papers in 42cm widths, which is what I need to make it work on an A2 frame.

My only other alternative is to use fabric of course.......cunning plan alert!

    AhA!

    If I do A2 it will fit, it's A1 that won't.
