Bakers...personalised cupcake cases?

Rod, 9 April, 2013 at 11:45 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 16

Do these exist? What are the best ones?

I'm doing 100 cupcakes and one big one for H's uncles vow renewal in August. chococalte and vanilla.

I'd like to get them personalised cake holders...any advice appreciated!

Also, if I were to make and ice them the day before, would they be ok? Bearing in mind it *might* be warm!

Can't help with the cupcake holders, but yes you should be fine to make them the day before. Seal them in tubs and put them in as cool a place as possible, but NOT the fridge! They will go hard in the fridge.

Because I'm making 100 (plus one huge one) could i keep them in their boxes in a cool place (bathroom?) instead of a tub?

Ummm, I think you could. Ideally they should be totally sealed. Could you do a test run? Make a few and tape them up into a box overnight, see how they are the next day?

Yea I will be doing a few practise runs.

I did 120 for my BIL's wedding reception before and just kept the uniced cakes in boxes overnight then iced them on the morning, but I want to ice them the night before this time.

I will have to take pics of my efforts! I am planning for them to look like this in choc and vanilla.

Not sure how acheivable this is!

If you have the right nozzle the swirl is quite easy apperantly. I'm trying this next week for my friends birthday and want to do this for it.

No idea about cupcake cases though.

The cakes will be totally fine overnight, put them in their boxes then clingfilm the boxes for an extra seal and keep in a cool place.

I think personalised cases would be a bit of a waste, you'd not really see them once baked or even when case was off. Not sure they exist, I've not seen them. You can get cupcake wraps or collars which are basically bits of card that go round the cupcake when it's in it's wrapper, you may have better luck finding personalised ones of those? Would you consider little flags or rice paper toppers that could be personalised?

Spangler is the expert on that type of icing, she's a stranger around these parts these days sadly ☹️. I think it's called rose icing, perhaps search youtube for a tutorial. I think you start from the inside out instead of the big swirl you'd do from outside in. I may be wrong though, perhaps Flow could advise?

I think you're right ATB - I will get simple ivory or gold case and then just top them nicely.

A lady at work is going to give me a masterclass on the rose icing! I dont doubt its simple once you know how.

That's a good idea - also if you use foil cases instead of paper, it is supposed to keep the cakes fresher. Ebay have lots of beautiful things that could go on the top of wedding cupcakes in the coner like you've shown on your pic, Brian uses wee pearls that look simple and lovely, those and some small hearts would look good. I miss her hairy mush too...

I was thinking little gold pearls on some and maybe tiny sugar flowers on the others? I want to do a big one on top like this

You want the Wilton 1M nozzle for those. Dead easy to do.

I thought it was the 2d one. I tried the 1m and it didn't look quite right.

Rod, if you search rose swirl you should get tutorials. You start in the middle and work your way out.

Just one thought in case of hot weather (I once made 200+ cupcakes for a summer fete in a heat wave. Even though I was under a gazebo I had icing melting all over the place!).

It may be worth using a butter icing recipe that includes a decent amount of proper chocolate in it, so it’s a bit more like chocolate ganache, as it should be more resistant to melting. You would need 70%+ cocoa solids chocolate.
